Tableland man held with homemade shotgun and ammunition

A 29-year-old man from Nohar Road, Tableland, was arrested by officers of the St. Mary’s Police Station, during an anti-crime exercise in Moruga last night. 

According to police reports,  officers were on mobile patrol along Saunders Trace, St. Mary’s Village, Moruga, around 11:00 pm on November 25th, when they had cause to stop and search a makeshift camp with a lone male occupant. 

The search resulted in officers finding a homemade shotgun with three rounds of 12 gauge cartridges. 

The suspect was arrested in connection with the finds.

Man on gun charge jailed

A Princes Town man who claimed he was go­ing to sell his gun out of fear that the po­lice were now shoot­ing to kill has been jailed for 18 months.

Karl Richard­son, 29, a labour­er gave that ex­cuse when he ap­peared in the Siparia Mag­is­trates’ Court charged with pos­ses­sion of a firearm.

He was ar­rest­ed on Tues­day dur­ing an an­ti-crime po­lice ex­er­cise co­or­di­nat­ed of­fi­cers of the South West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force and Pe­nal CID.

Santa Cruz man detained by police for gun and ammunition possession

A 29-year-old Santa Cruz man was arrested by officers of the Eastern Division Task Force after a pistol and a quantity of ammunition was found in his possession.

According to police reports, officers were conducting an anti-crime exercise in the district.

 Police had cause to stop and search the suspect who was walking along the roadway at Dookhan Hill, La Canoa Road, Lower Santa Cruz. 

This search revealed one loaded Glock pistol and 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition. 

He was taken into police custody.

Five arrested during anti-crime exercise in Westmoorings

Five men are arrested and a pistol and quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Western Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in the Westmoorings district. 

According to police reports, on August 27th during the exercise, the officers stopped and searched a blue Nissan B15 motor vehicle, with five male occupants, which was proceeding along the Western Main Road.

The search resulted in one Glock 17 pistol, with a selector and one magazine loaded with 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition being discovered in the vehicle. 

Pistol and ammunition seized during police exercise

A pistol and a magazine are discovered during an anti-crime exercise conducted by officers of the Central Division, in the Couva district.

The exercise led by Sgt. Sunil Ramdial, of the Couva Criminal Investigations Department (CID), also included a party of officers attached to the Couva Police Station.

According to police reports, officers proceeded to the abandoned Community Centre along Greg Street, Balmain, Williams Street, around 3:45 pm, on August 20th and conducted a search.

Penal man charged with possession of gun, ammunition

A Penal man is expected to appear before a Siparia Magistrate, charged with possession of firearm and ammunition, after he was arrested by officers of the South Western Division Task Force (SWDTF), during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Santa Flora district.

Kevin Ramsaran, 22, a welder, of Katwaroo Branch Trace, Penal, was arrested around 5:20pm, on Saturday 18th August, 2018, after the Mitsubishi Pajero motor vehicle he was driving was stopped and searched by officers during a roadblock exercise, along Field Road, Bennette Village, Santa Flora.

Police seize revolver and ammunition

A revolver and a quantity of ammunition are discovered during an anti-crime exercise conducted by officers of the Cedros Police Station, in the district. 

According to police reports officers proceeded to Icacos Village around 8:30 pm on August 11th, and conducted a search of a bushy area. 

The search resulted in officers discovering one Smith and Wesson revolver and two rounds of ammunition in a black plastic bag hidden under a sheet of rusted galvanise. 

Investigations are continuing. 

Mac-10 sub-machine and ammo found in Las Lomas

A Sub-Machine Gun and Ammo has been Found in Las Lomas.
The discovery was made by officers of the Central Division Special Crime Unit, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Las Lomas district on Thursday. The exercise, spearheaded by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Inraj Balram, and ASP (Ag.) Richard Smith included officers of the Las Lomas Police Post and the Canine Unit and was conducted between 6:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Man in court after threatening police with fake gun

A Claxton Bay man, charged with three counts of common assault and possession of an imitation firearm, has appeared before a San Fernando Magistrate to answer to the charges.

Rocky Mehelan, 27, of Soledad Road, Claxton Bay, was granted $20,000 own bail when he appeared before Magistrate Natalie Diop in the San Fernando 2nd Magistrates’ Court, on Friday 20th July, 2018.

Trincity man charged with gun, ammunition possession

A Trincity man, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate today.

Rondell Adams, 25, of Castleton Avenue, Trincity, was arrested during an anti-crime exercise, conducted by officers of the Arima Crime Patrol Unit and Arima Criminal Investigations Department (CID), in the Arima district on Tuesday 17th July, 2018.

The exercise took place between 4 pm and 7 pm and was led by Insp. Nigel Birch, of the Arima CID.
