Police have arrested a Cocorite man who is also a footballer in the TT Pro League after they allegedly found a loaded firearm and a quantity of marijuana on him.
Reports indicate that police went to Upper Powder Magazine, Cocorite around 1.20 Tuesday morning and carried out a search at the footballer's home.
Police say they found a 9mm pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition, hidden in the stove of the kitchen.
Police have seized a firearm and several rounds of ammunition in an anti-crime exercise.
The Police Service issued the following statement today:
"Port of Spain Division – firearm, ammunition seized
Between the hours of 5:00am to 11:00am on Friday 12th August 2016, CplMarajh along with a party of officers attached to the Inter-Agency Task Force Strike Team and Duncan Street Police Post acted upon information received and proceeded to a bushy area in Commonwealth Drive, Nelson Street, Freeport where they conducted a search.
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested with a firearm in Laventille. Police say the boy ran off when he saw the police during an operation.

An Arouca man has been held with a gun and ammunition during a police exercise that nabbed six people.
The exercise began at 10 am Wednesday and ended at midnight.

Trinidad Guardian: The AR-15 assault rifle that was used in the killing of Selwyn “Robocop” Alexis is the same type of weapon that was used to shoot police officer Sgt Ricardo Morris multiple times in Sea Lots in May. Morris managed to survive.
Police also discovered Alexis’ weapons cache of two AR-15 rifles and ammunition at his Longdenville home on Monday. An AR-15 rifle was one of the weapons used in an attack in Enterprise, Chaguanas, on June 30, in which four men were shot.
