Health Ministry issues warning about recalled children's milk

The Ministry of Health is advising that the Lactalis Group in Laval, France has recalled certain lots of the Picot and Milumel brands of infant milk products from their line due to fears of salmonella bacteria contamination.

A statement by the Ministry says that the population can be reassured, based on an advisory from the International Food Safety Authorities Network (INFOSAN), that Trinidad and Tobago has not been identified as one of the countries which imported the affected products.

Ministry: Do not consume Picot and Milumel baby milk at this time

Dr Mentor Melville passes

Tobago's former County Medical Officer of Health, Dr Mentor Melville, has died.

A statement by the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) said Dr Melville passed away at the Scarborough General Hospital (SGH) shortly after 10 pm on Sunday, 17th December, 2017, after ailing for some time.

He was a former County Medical Officer of Health for Tobago and the former General Manager, Primary Care at the TRHA.
