‘Don’t jail my client for killing homeless man’

A Vistabella man who in a fit of rage killed a homeless man after the man threatened his wife and child with a bottle should be spared a prison sentence.

This is the position of both the defence and State attorneys in the matter of Christopher Henry who pleaded guilty to the offence of manslaughter. The incident took place almost 17 years ago.

However, Henry’s faith rests solely in the hands of Justice Hayden St Clair-Douglas who will give his decision on June 12, in the San Fernando Second Criminal Court.

Homeless man found in abandoned Duncan Street building

An unidentified homeless man was found dead in an abandoned building on Duncan Street in Port-of-Spain.

The man's body was found by residents just after seven this morning, police sources say the man's body bore a wound to the head.

The abandoned building is frequented by homeless persons.

Police are continuing investigations as no motive has yet been established.

Homeless man charged with exposing school children to pornographic material

A 56-year-old man is expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate, charged with exposing children to pornographic material and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Christopher Nandlal, of no fixed place of abode, was arrested by PC Alister Redhead, of the San Fernando Police Station, around 7:15 am on Tuesday 20th March, 2018.

PC Redhead was on traffic duties, assisting students cross the roadway, when he observed a man standing on the pavement, in the vicinity of the ASJA Girls’ College, allegedly showing pornographic material to students.
