Illegal immigrants being kept at police stations

Il­le­gal im­mi­grants are cur­rent­ly be­ing kept at po­lice sta­tions as there con­tin­ue to be in­suf­fi­cient space at the Im­mi­gra­tion De­ten­tion Cen­tre in Aripo.

This was re­vealed by Min­is­ter of Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Stu­art Young in the Sen­ate on Tues­day. Young was asked by Op­po­si­tion Sen­a­tor Wade Mark in light of state­ments made by the Chief Im­mi­gra­tion Of­fi­cer that ex­er­cis­es to de­tain il­le­gal im­mi­grants are on halt be­cause there is no more room at the fa­cil­i­ty.

Be­tween Wednes­day and Thurs­day, Venezuela re­port­ed 12 deaths and scores in­jured as the cri­sis es­ca­lat­ed.
