Kamla: Budget was the final rites to bury the economy

While Op­po­si­tion Leader Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar yes­ter­day ex­pressed de­light with Fi­nance Min­is­ter Colm Im­bert’s pro­pos­al to in­crease the min­i­mum wage from $15 to $17.50 an hour for 194,000 low in­come work­ers across the coun­try, she feels the pay hike was in­suf­fi­cient as it should have been $20 an hour in­stead.

Kamla vows to challenge FOIA changes

Kamla cleared in ganja probe

Op­po­si­tion Leader Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar has been cleared of any wrong­do­ing in con­nec­tion to mar­i­jua­na found on her prop­er­ty some five years ago.

Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Gary Grif­fith on Thurs­day an­nounced that Per­sad-Bisses­sar was not found re­spon­si­ble for the drugs on her premis­es in any way.

Grif­fith, speak­ing dur­ing the po­lice brief­ing at the Po­lice Ad­min­is­tra­tion Build­ing, Port-of-Spain re­spond­ed to ques­tions about the five-year-old case.

Opposition leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar issued a rallying call to citizens in her emancipation day message to make T&T better, stronger and safer.

According to her, the crime situation had severely reduced the quality of life of all citizens.

Persad-Bissessar recalled the determination and spirit of those who fought for and won their freedom from slavery.
