A special caucus meeting of the United National Congress which will take place on Monday, is being described as a first in a series of strategic meetings as the party sets its sight on claiming victory in two major elections slated for this year and 2020.
In a statement, the UNC says political leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar will be meeting with all members of the parliamentary caucus as well as the national executive of the party.
The party is said to be employing an all hands on deck approach as it prepares for local government and general elections.

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar says she was saddened to learn of the passing of pan legen Ken 'Professor' Philmore.
Philmore died at the San Fernando General Hospital this morning following injuries sustained in a vehicular accident on Monday.
Persad-Bissessar issued the following tribute on Sunday.
"I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ken “Professor” Philmore, and I join in paying tribute to a musical giant and distinguished son of Trinidad and Tobago, one who has made immense contributions to steelpan music and culture.
Opposition leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar will be taking her concerns over a recent skit at a PNM Family Day to the doorsteps of the Office of the Prime Minister.
She is calling on members of the public who have deemed the skit offensive to join with her on Thursday for the planned protest.
In a Facebook post, Persad-Bbissessar labeled the skit portraying the removal of a woman's clothing by men dressed in masks as shameful and an insult to women.
She said the depiction of men as brutish and violent was equally insulting.
Waheeda Ganesh broke down in tears, shaking and wailing loudly, as the body of her only child- murdered teenager Eric Ganesh was brought up the street in St Charles to the surprisingly sombre sounds of tassa drumming.
Mourners wore special tee-shirts emblazoned with Ganesh's smiling face and the words "Our Angel, Our Legend."
The funeral attracted hundreds of people who spilled from the houses of mourning, onto the streets.
