Kamla: They’re trying to throw diplomat under the bus

Even as Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley waits on a report on the circumstances that led to T&T’s representative at the Organisation of American States (OAS), Ambassador Anthony Phillip-Spencer to vote against Dominica’s bid to waive its OAS contributions for 2018 and 2019, a copy of a memorandum, obtained by the T&T Guardian, surfaced yesterday stating that T&T’s Mission in Washington had suggested to the Ministry of Foreign and Caricom Affairs in T&T, that this country should support Dominica’s bid.

Persad-Bissessar tells PM to stop playing the "blame game"

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is issuing a clarion call to Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley to man up to his responsibilities as prime minister and stop the blame game.

She says playing politics will not bring any comfort and security to terrified citizens.

"It is sickening that the prime minister would use the heinous and gruesome murders of innocent 15-year-old schoolboy Joshua Andrews and taxi driver Devon Hernandez to try to score cheap political points," Persad-Bissessar said.

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has paid tribute to former president George Maxwell Richards who passed on Monday night.

Persad-Bissessar called him a statesman and true son of the soil.

"I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of this country’s fourth President, Professor George Maxwell Richards, TC, CM.

I remember him as honourable, patriotic and noble, and he served Trinidad and Tobago with distinction in his role as Head of State. 

Kamla Persad-Bissessar to receive 'women of distinction' award

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is being recognized for her leadership qualities and work in the public sphere.

In a statement issued by the party this morning, the UNC stated that Persad-Bissessar will be presented with the 2017 ‘women of distinction’ award.

The award is being presented by "celebrating women international", which is a nonprofit organization aiming to mobilize and inspire women across the globe.

Persad-Bissessar: Fake-oil controversy warrants attention of DPP, COP & Integrity Commission

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar says the Prime Minister is calling on the prime minister to take action with regard to the Petrotrin fake oil controversy.

The Opposition Leader said in a statement today that the matter is serious enough to warrant the attention of the DPP, Commissioner of Police and Integrity Commission.

Persad-Bissessar: 'PM has run away from the country during crisis'

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is accusing Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley of "running away" from the country while she says it is in crisis.

The PNM was elected into office on this day two years ago.

Dr Rowley is out of the country today, having left on Friday for California on a medical trip.

The Opposition Leader issued the following statement on Thursday.

"Two years ago, Dr Rowley convinced Trinidad and Tobago that he could lead our country.

I warned the country that he had no plan and no ideas.
