UNC Political Leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar has advised the party's membership of upcoming elections within the party.
This followed a meeting of the UNC National Executive last evening.

"On Wednesday 27th January 2016, the National Executive and the Parliamentary Arm of the United National Congress met at Rienzi Complex.
Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is calling into question, the failure of the Ministry of National Security "to acknowledge that there is a spike in the level of murders in the past few months.“
A statement issued by her office today states that "she is deeply troubled by the unabated slaughter of citizens as the murder rate has now reached 33 persons killed in 22 days, the latest being the tragic murder of two teenage students who were on their way home from school".
Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is accusing the Government of misleading the country on the true facts of the Couva Children's Hospital.
The former prime minister is calling on the Health Minister and Prime Minister to "come clean" on the facts.
She issued this statement on Sunday:
"The Minister of Health, Mr Terrance Deyalsingh, and the Rowley government are spreading misinformation about the Couva Children’s Hospital while keeping the facility closed.
Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has responded to the Prime Minister's address to the nation on the economy, saying it is clear to her that the Government does not have a plan for the economy.
