Convinced that Keston Mahabir’s abductors had concocted a ploy to discredit him, fiance Shereeza Mohammed has come out in his defence, saying he was never sexually involved with his teenaged student.
In an interview with the T&T Guardian, Mohammed said 26-year-old Mahabir was always concerned about upholding his good name and would never engage in such activity.
Saying there was no way the teacher would ever put himself with a 15-year-old, Mohammed said: “If that was the case I want to know how that happened because I knew all his whereabouts.”
Police investigating the kidnapping of teacher Keston Mahabir say they have received new information which they are working on at this time.
Mahabir, of Pitman Trace, McBean Village, Couva, was abducted from his home last Wednesday.
Today police told CNC3 news, they have interviewed several people in relation to the crime.
However they say his whereabouts remain a mystery.
Over 300 people have arrested in one week by the police service.
The family of kidnapped school teacher Keston Mahabir is saying little about his disappearance after one of Mahabir's pupils, a 15-year-old girl, filed a report against him at the Central Police Station.
The young girl alleged that she and 26-year-old Mahabir were sexually involved.
Three relatives who were held in connection with the disappearance have since been released.
When we reached out to Mahabir's sister today, she told us the family would not be making any comment at this time to the media.
A 26-year-old man, Keston Mahabir, has been kidnapped.
Mahabir was snatched from his home at around 11:45 this morning.
According to reports from family members, two women came to Mahabir’s Pityman Street, Mc Bean Couva home just before noon.
They are said to have told Mahabir that they worked with the Ministry of Education and were interested in the after-school educational centre he ran from his home.
Reports are that during the meeting, three masked men emerged from a car, stormed the house and dragged Mahabir away then sped off in the vehicle.
