Woman's body identified

The woman whose body was found in Cunupia last week has been positively identified as 26-year-old Jana-Marie Moore, of Phase 6, La Horquetta.

The body was identified by Moore’s father at the Forensic Science Centre in St James on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, at about 2.15 pm, police officers received an anonymous call about the body.

They went to the location where they found the body in some bushes about 20 feet off from Ramcharitar Trace.

The woman's body bore multiple gunshot wounds to the face and upper body, and her hands were bound and her mouth gagged.

Police probe grisly murders in Blanchisseuse and La Horquetta

Police are investigating murders reported in Blanchisseuse and La Horquetta on Wednesday afternoon.

In the latter report at about 3pm, Joel Gibson was killed after being shot on Paradise Street, La Horquetta.

Police said Gibson was walking along the roadway in the company of a woman he knew, when they were approached by a gunman.

The man shot Gibson at point-blank range, before fleeing on foot.

The woman, police said, was not harmed in the incident.

Gibson, of Heliconia Crescent, died at the scene of the shooting.

Man killed in La Horquetta

An early morning shooting has claimed the life of a man.
CNC3 News understands that residents of Phase 3 La Horquetta heard several loud explosions.
 The police were contacted and upon arrival discovered the body of a man identified as Kern Mitchell lying in a pool of blood. 
Investigations are ongoing.


Police searches yield drugs, weapon in La Horquetta

Police have seized a quantity of drugs as well as a pistol and ammunition in Phase 2, La Horquetta.

One man has also been arrested.

According to reports, police conducted an exercise in the La Horquetta District where they executed four search warrants.

One man was held for possession of  200 grammes of marijuana. 

A quantity of marijuana and cocaine were also recovered in the area, together with a Glock 19 Pistol and 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition.


La Horquetta man charged with manslaughter in death of his 8-year-old son

A La Horquetta man has been charged with manslaughter, in relation to the death of his 8-year-old son, Ishmeel Phillips, which occurred on Friday 9th February, 2018.

Bert Phillips, 42, of 439 Rydale Avenue, Greenvale, La Horquetta, a paraplegic, appeared before an Arima Magistrate.

Eight-year-old Ishmeel, of the same address, was beaten with a piece of PVC pipe by a male relative after being accused of stealing a quantity of cash on Friday 9th February, 2018 at his home.

He was taken to hospital where he died.

La Horquetta man killed

An early morning shooting incident has claimed the life of one man.

CNC3 news understands that around 1:30 am, gunmen entered the home of 31-year-old Kevon Robinson. assailants opened fire on the man before fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred along Yustuff Bernard Avenue, La Horquetta, Arima police are yet to determine a motive for the murder.


La Horquetta man in court for November 2016 murder

A 26-year-old man of Phase 2, La Horquetta, Arima, has appeared in the Arima Magistrates’ Court, charged with the murder of Haniel London, a statement by the Police Service said.

Omeauku Barbour, who is unemployed, appeared before Magistrate Gillian David- Scotland, today, Tuesday 21st March, 2017.

London, 36, was shot and killed outside his business place at La Horquetta, on Friday 18th November, 2016.

The matter has been postponed to April 13th, 2017. 

Man wanted after shootout with police

Police are searching for a man wanted following a shootout with police last night.

Police were shot at while on patrol in La Horquetta, and the suspect has been described as a man wanted in connection with several crimes.

Police also say there are several warrants out for the man, whose identity has not been released.

Police say the man managed to escape after shooting at them by running through a track.

52 held by police in La Horquetta, Maloney operations

Police officers with support from Defence Force personnel are maintaining the sustained anti-crime effort in parts of the Northern Division, with another major joint anti-crime operation, targeting persons in the La Horquetta and Maloney communities.

One hundred and fifteen (115) officers were involved in the exercise which began yesterday, Thursday 24th November, 2016, at 6:00am and concluded at 3:00am today, Friday 25th November, 2016.
