After crash spoils wedding plans, couple marries at Grande hospital

A near-fa­tal ac­ci­dent three weeks be­fore their wed­ding al­most de­railed the plans of a San­gre Grande cou­ple.

Basha Cain, 29, had planned to mar­ry her com­mon-law hus­band, Sean Cain, 45, in a cer­e­mo­ny at the Open Bible Church in San­gre Grande on Box­ing Day. In­stead, they ex­changed vows at Sean’s bed­side in the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal on that day.

Love behind bars

Claudette Spencer was a United States attorney working with the New York Prisoners’ Right Project of the Legal Aid Society when she visited Elmira Correctional Facility, New York in 1984 to investigate some Ku Klux Klan (KKK) activity taking place at the prison.

And as part of her investigation, Spencer had to interview an inmate born in Trinidad and Tobago named Ernest Nurse, who was found guilty of murder.

Valentine's Day spending is expected to drop 7.6% this year to $18.2 billion from last year's $19.7 billion, according to the latest annual survey form the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights and Analytics in the United States.

It turns out that 9% fewer people plan on celebrating the occasion.

“Valentine’s Day continues to be a popular gift-giving occasion even if consumers are being more frugal this year,” NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay said.
