Body washes ashore at Maracas Bay

The body of a woman washed ashore at Maracas Bay this morning.

According to reports, officers of the Maracas Police station were alerted that the lifeless body of a woman in a bathing suit had washed up on the beach around 5:30 am

It is believed that the woman may have gone for a late night sea bath when she got into difficulty.

The body was removed from the scene and taken to the Forensic Sciences Centre where a post mortem would be done pending identification.


Police raid nets high-powered weapons, ammunition and marijuana on North Coast Road

Police have seized a high-powered rifle and a quantity of high grade marijuana during an exercise in Maracas Bay and Las Cuevas.

Officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force conducted an exercise on the North Coast Road, Maracas Bay and Las Cuevas areas.

They searched several houses and surrounding areas and found a .38 special revolver, two live rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana.
