A revolver and quantities of ammunition and marijuana were discovered by officers of the Central Division during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Claxton Bay district yesterday.
According to police reports, officers of the Chaguanas and Couva CIDs proceeded to Pranz Gardens, Claxton Bay, where they conducted a search.
The search resulted in officers finding the firearm, along with four rounds of ammunition and 3.13 kilogrammes of marijuana. The drug has an estimated street value of $31,300.
Investigations are ongoing.
Two men have been arrested in connection with a report of robbery and wounding.
According to police reports, officers were on mobile patrol when they responded to a report of robbery and wounding at Tragarete Road and Cipriani Boulevard, around 11:00pm, on Tuesday 15th October 2019.
The officers, with the assistance of an off-duty police officer, arrested two suspects in connection with the incident and seized a revolver and three rounds of ammunition.
One man is in police custody after being held with a firearm and a quantity of marijuana.
According to police reports, officers of the Crime Suppression Unit were conducting an exercise in the Brazil Village district yesterday, when they observed a man acting suspiciously.
Upon seeing the officers, the man threw a blue bag into some nearby bushes and ran off.
The man was apprehended a short distance away and a search of the area resulted in the discovery of a loaded pistol and 700 grammes of marijuana.
Investigations are ongoing.
Marijuana trees worth an estimated TT$24 million, were destroyed by officers of the Southern Division Task Force, during a marijuana eradication exercise, in Moruga yesterday
The exercise was conducted between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, and included members of the Special Forces, the Special Investigations Unit, the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment and the Air Support Unit.
According to police reports, during the exercise, eight marijuana fields containing 24,000 fully grown trees, were discovered along with two camps in the Moruga district.
The Office of the Attorney General has completed drafting legislation for the decriminalisation of marijuana.
Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi made the disclosure during a press conference at his office in Port-of-Spain, on Wednesday.
Al-Rawi said he would now have to seek Cabinet’s approval for the draft legislation before it is tabled in Parliament and debated.
He did not give timeline for completing the process.
A 33-year-old labourer from Penal was arrested and a quantity of marijuana seized by officers of the South Western Division Task Force during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in Debe yesterday.
Officers conducted the exercise around 3:45 pm, on June 24th.
According to police reports, surveillance was conducted on a shed located along Somai Trace, Debe, which was occupied by a male suspect.
Officers approached the shed and had cause to search the suspect who had a black bag in his possession.
Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has been cleared of any wrongdoing in connection to marijuana found on her property some five years ago.
Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith on Thursday announced that Persad-Bissessar was not found responsible for the drugs on her premises in any way.
Griffith, speaking during the police briefing at the Police Administration Building, Port-of-Spain responded to questions about the five-year-old case.

Eastern Division officers have destroyed over $5 million dollars’ worth in marijuana trees and dried marijuana, during an eradication exercise in Biche on Wednesday.
The exercise included officers attached to the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit (OCIU), Eastern Division Task Force (EDTF) and the Air Support Unit.
During the exercise, officers proceeded to a forested area off the Biche Main Road, where they discovered five fields containing 5,300 fully grown marijuana trees along with 22.5 kilogrammes of dried marijuana.
