Former Health Minister Dr Fuad Khan says Trinidad and Tobago needs to join the march towards decriminalization of marijuana, particularly for medical use.
Today, as many around the world celebrates 4-20, Dr Khan is once again pointed out the many benefits to the economy by legalizing marijuana, its medical uses and the need to desist from criminalizing young men in particular for using small amounts.
Police have destroyed 300 marijuana seedlings that were discovered by officers of the Moruga Police Station, during a marijuana eradication exercise in the Moruga district yesterday.
The exercise, supervised by Cpl. Sydney Simon and Cpl. (Ag.) Kishore Ramsingh, took place between 8:30 am and 3 pm, on Tuesday 17th April, 2018.
During the exercise, officers proceeded to an abandoned house along Dennis Trace, Moruga, where the plants were discovered and subsequently destroyed.
No arrest was made in connection with the find.
A quantity of marijuana was discovered by officers of the Scarborough Criminal Investigations Department, during an anti-crime exercise, in the Scarborough district yesterday, police said Monday in a media statement.
Acting on information, the officers proceeded to a service station, located at Orange Hill Road, Scarborough, where they conducted a search around 9:30 pm on Sunday 15th April, 2018.
During the search, one black speaker box containing 17 clear packets of marijuana, weighing 7.9 kilogrammes, was found near a bin on the compound of the gas station.

The exercise, coordinated by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Neville Adams and spearheaded by Sgt. Sheldon Ablacksingh, was conducted around 11:30 am, on Monday 26th March, 2018, during which the officers proceeded to Oilfield Road, Los Bajos, where they observed a man standing along the roadway.
Upon seeing the officers, the man ran off into some nearby bushes.

Deodath Seepersad and including officers of the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit, the Moruga Police Station and personnel from the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force, was conducted between 11 am and 4 pm on Sunday.
One man was arrested and quantities of ammunition and marijuana seized, by officers of the Northern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise, in the Arouca district, over the weekend.
Officers were on mobile patrol in Windy Hill, Arouca, around 5:20 pm, on Saturday, when they observed a man walking along the roadway, acting in a suspicious manner.
The man was stopped and a search conducted.
The search resulted in 30 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition and 10 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, as well as 50 grammes of marijuana, being discovered in his possession.
