Body of missing man washes ashore in Mayaro

The body of a 25-year-old man who disappeared while bathing in the waters of Mayaro on Monday, has washed ashore.

Akeem Marin washed ashore at Mayaro this morning at Queen’s Beach, Mayaro.

Mayaro police were alerted to the discovery around 7sevn this morning.

Search continues for 25-year-old man who disappeared in Mayaro waters

Members of the Coast Guard and Air Guard are searching for a 25-year-old man who disappeared underwater in Mayaro on Monday and is feared drowned.

A 17-year-old girl who was with the man at the time was rescued by life guards and villagers.

Naomi Mitchell and Akeem Marin were bathing in the waters off Cham Road, when they got into difficulties just after midday.

While Mitchell was rescued, Marine disappeared.

Up to this morning he had not been found. 

The search is continuing.

Huge grouper caught in Mayaro

A Facebook post of a group of men trying to pull a large grouper into the back of a pick-up truck, has attracted tens of thousands of viewers.

The video was uploaded by ENT! BREAKING NEWS with the title: "Huge Grouper like fish caught at Mayaro, Trinidad"

The video appears to have been shot by Pooran Ramlakhan.

The fish is still alive as the men struggle to load the new catch into the truck.

Groupers are known to grown to some enormous sizes.

Body of 27-year-old man who disappeared in Mayaro waters Sunday, discovered on shore

The body of a 27-year-old man has been discovered on the sea-shore in Mayaro.

It's believe that he drowned after disappearing in the water on Sunday.

Police have identified the man as Trevin Lalla of Balmain, Couva.

He was discovered around 6.30 am on by a passerby, in the vicinity of JR Animal Farm, Grand Lagoon, Mayaro.

The Mayaro police were then contacted.

Lalla went missing around 4.45pm on Sunday while bathing with friends in the vicinity of New Lands Village, Guayaguayare beach. 

Relatives said that Lalla did not know how to swim.

Lucky escape for Mayaro family as National Security vehicle crashes into house

A family of five escaped serious injury when a National Security vehicle rammed into their house at Bristol Village, Mayaro. [SEE VIDEO BELOW]

Around 6.45 am an unidentified driver was heading east along the Naparima/Mayaro Road and lost control of the Hilux vehicle which ran off the road and into the yard of Glen Ramdath.

The vechile then shot across the yard into the property of Catherine Mohammed where it collided into the side of the house breaking down the walls and partly stopping in her living room.

Police probe circumstances under which Mayaro mother of two took her own life

Police are probing the circumstances under which a Mayaro woman took her own life Wednesday morning.

Kiniece Slyvan, 25, of Peter Hill Road Mayaro. 

A male relative who wished not to be identified said Slyvan borrowed money from a neighbour and went to the agro  shop where she purchased a toxic substance. Slyvan and a male relative had an argument that earlier that morning.

Reports are that she was found by her mother around 11.45 am trembling at the family home. 

Three dead as car and truck collide in Mayaro

Three people have died in an accident today in Bristol Village, Mayaro. 

Dead are Anthony Marcano, 60, of Piererville Mayaro, Sherwin Constantine, 64, of Piererville Mayaro and Saliesha Ali, 41, of Food Crop Road Bristol Village Mayaro. 

According to police, around 11.30 am Marcano, a PH driver, was driving his Toyota Corolla in a westerly direction in the vicinity of the Bristol cemetery. He lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a truck carrying asphalt that was driven by Mano Churkoo.
