MATT concerned about some legislation that might infringe press freedom

The Media Association says it continues to be concerned with some pieces of legislations that it believes could impede the free operations of the media.

MATT made the statement in recognition of World Press Freedom Day today.

"The Media Association of Trinidad and Tobago (MATT) joins in solidarity with local, regional and international media fraternities in observance of World Press Freedom Day on May 3, 2017.

Broadcast journalist Vernon Ramesar to run unopposed for MATT presidency

News producer and broadcast journalist Vernon Ramesar will run unopposed for the position of President of the Media Association of Trinidad and Tobago (MATT) at Saturday's executive elections.

Senior reporter at the Trinidad Guardian newspaper, Joel Julien will also run unopposed for the position of vice-president.

MATT released the names of the candidates this morning.

They are;

President: Vernon Ramesar, News Producer & Broadcast Journalist, CCN TV6

Vice President: Joel Julien, Senior Reporter, Guardian
