A 15-year-old minor is due to appear before the Port of Spain Children’s Court today, after being charged with shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The teenaged boy, of Caroni, was also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Joan Honore Paul, on Friday 8th March, 2019.
Charges were laid against the teen, after he was held in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Nicholas Janet, which occurred on Thursday 28th February, 2019.
A minor was one of two suspects who appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate today, jointly charged with the murder of 74-year-old national awardee, Hassema Ali, which occurred on Friday 2nd November 2018.
Videsh Richard Sooklal, 28, a mason, of Curepe and the teenager, appeared before Magistrate Adrian Dharmanie, in the Chaguanas 1st Magistrates’ Court, on Monday 19th November 2018, to answer to the charge.
A Rio Claro man is remanded into custody after appearing before a Sangre Grande Magistrate charged with eight counts of sexual abuse against a female minor, which are alleged to have occurred between the period June 2011 and December 2017.
Clint Bittan, 48, a labourer, of Tabaquite Road, Rio Claro, was charged with five counts of sexual penetration, two counts of grievous sexual assault and one count of sexual intercourse with a child under 14-yearsold, when he appeared before Magistrate Cheron Raphael, in the Sangre Grande 1st Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday 16th August, 2018.
A minor is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate today, charged with the murder of security guard, Kurt Monticeux, which occurred on Saturday 13th January, 2018.
The 17-year-old boy, of the Central Division, was also charged with robbery with violence, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on Thursday 7th June, 2018.
Monticeux, 48, of Maloney, was on duty at Church’s Chicken, O’Meara Plaza, Arima, on Saturday 13th January, 2018, when two assailants entered, one armed with a gun, and announced a hold up.
A teenage boy and two young men are expected to be questioned by police about the pregnancy of a 12-year-old schoolgirl.
The child protection unit of the T&T police service is investigating reports that the girl had been subjected to two years of sexual abuse by relatives and neighbours.
According to reports, the girl’s 17-year-old cousin and two of his friends, ages 19 and 20, had sex with the girl earlier this year.
It is not yet known who is the father of the unborn child.
