Bullets in bed - couple slain during home invasion

The bru­tal mur­ders of Guaico cou­ple Oni­ka Crafton and Ja­marie John have left the com­mu­ni­ty in shock and trau­ma­tised.

Po­lice said Crafton, 34, a moth­er of two, and com­mon-law hus­band John 32, al­so a fa­ther of two and an em­ploy­ee with the Min­istry of Agri­cul­ture Land and Fish­eries, died in­stant­ly af­ter be­ing shot sev­er­al times about their bod­ies while they slept at Crafton’s Mulchan Street, Guaico Tamana Road home ear­ly yes­ter­day.

21-year-old among two charged with woman's murder

A 21-year-old Arima man is the second person to be charged in connection with the murder of 62-year-old Monica Ruiz and is due to appear before the Arima Magistrates’ Court today.

Kent Coutou aka ‘Mark Thomas’, was charged with murder, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard, SC on Friday.

Ruiz, of Sherwood Park, Arima, was last seen at her home around 5 pm on Friday 3rd August, 2018.

Her body, was later discovered by relatives, bound and gagged, on Saturday 4th August, 2018.

Freeport man charged with murder

Twenty-year-old Balgobin Doodnath has been charged with the murder of Dalroop Jagessar and is due to appear before the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court, today, to answer to the charge. 

Doodnath, a Guyanese immigrant residing in Chase Village, Freeport, was charged with murder, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore Paul, 22nd February.

According to police reports, On February 18th Mr Jagessar, a 66-year-old factory owner also of Chase Village, was at his home where got into an altercation with the accused. 

Police seek to ID man found bound, shot on Morne Coco Road

Police are yet to identify a man who was discovered murdered in Petit Valley.

According to reports, shortly after 6 am a passerby stumbled on a body along Morne Coco Road. 

The police were contacted and on arrival discovered the man with a gunshot wound to his head. 

The victim's hands were also bound.

Investigators are yet to determine a motive for the killing...


Man shot dead in San Fernando

Police are on the scene of a murder in San Fernando where a man was found dead in a car.

Resident says that around 1.30 pm, they heard gunshots in the area and looked out and saw a green Nissan Almera in the middle of the road at the corner of Vistabella Road and Hubert Rance Street.

Inside the car was the body of an unidentified man who was seated on the front passenger's seat.

He was slumped over the centre console.

The rear passenger door had holes that appeared to have been caused by bullets. 

California man charged with murder

A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with the murder of Mariana Moonisar and the wounding with intent of a relative and is scheduled to appear before the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court.

Johnathan Ramroop, a labourer of Dow Village, California, was charged with murder, wounding with intent and possession of firearm and ammunition on Tuesday 19th February, 2019, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore Paul.

Doubles vendor chopped to death

Dou­bles ven­dor Dha­roop Jages­sar was chopped to death on Tues­day morn­ing at his dou­bles shed at Chase Vil­lage, Ch­agua­nas.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, at about 4.30 am a man con­front­ed Jages­sar in­side his busi­ness place, Cen­tral Dou­bles Fac­to­ry, and dealt him sev­er­al chops about the body. The 66-year-old busi­ness­man died on the scene.

Sealots murder - four killed between 10 pm and midday

A murder in Sealots this morning is among several killings being investigated by police today.

Reports are that one man has been shot and killed on Pioneer Drive late Tuesday morning.

The victim has been identified as Nigel Francisco.

Earlier today a 56-year-old man was shot and killed in Laventille.

According to reports, shortly before 5 am Tuesday, residents of Block 8 heard several loud explosions.
