Cocorite murder victim identified

A 28-year old man killed in Cocorite had been identified as Kzyz James.

He was killed following a drive-by shooting at Water Hole near his fruit stall.

Residents said that around 11 am a White AD wagon was seen in the area.

Occupants in the car opened fire upon James.

He was attempted to flee the gunfire, but was eventually felled by the bullets.

He died on the scene.

His relatives believe he was targeted due to gang violence between Rasta City and the Muslim gangs.

James was a Muslim.

7 murders in under 24 hours

A murder in Malick has brought to 7, the number of people murdered in the last 24 hours.

At about 3 pm today, Kevon Robertson, 33, was fatally shot in Malick, Barataria.

Police said Robertson’s murder was believed to have been gang-related and linked to the attempted murder of a relative of a well-known man from Seventh Avenue in Malick.

Investigations are continuing into all incidents.

Earlier today, a man was found killed in a vehicle in Tobago.

There were five murders overnight.

Burnt body discovered in car in Tobago

A body burnt beyond recognition has been found in a car in Tobago.
It is being classed as a suspected homicide.
According to reports about 2 am this morning, fire officers responded to a call about a burning car on Belmont Link Road Mason Hall Tobago.
When investigators arrived at the site they noticed a lone body in the vehicle.
 Investigations are continuing. Tobago recorded 9 murders last year.

Two double murders in last 24-hours

Two double murders are recorded in the space of three hours in north Trinidad.
In the latest incident which is said to have occurred around 11:30 pm, two men were shot and killed at Marcano Drive, El Dorado. Reports suggest the shooting occurred a short distance from a wake which was held for 32-year-old Cherisse Bramble who was shot and killed on Monday evening after gunmen stormed a house and opened fire. The victims have been identified as Akash Dookie and Darius Joseph, both from Tunapuna.

Gunmen storm house, kill El Dorado woman

A 32-year-old woman has been killed in a shooting incident in El Dorado.

Police say around 10 pm Monday, two armed men stormed the home where Cherisse Bramble was and opened fire.

Officers say after the men fled, Bramble and another man identified as Kent Davis were seen in a pool of blood on the living room floor.

The police and emergency health services were notified and both victims were rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, however, Bramble succumbed to her injuries.

Davis, was listed in a critical condition.

Murder in San Juan

A 25-year-old man has been shot and killed in San Juan.

Reports indicate that around 1 Monday morning residents of Mt Hope Extension heard several loud explosions.

Police were contacted and on arrival proceeded to a home in the area where they discovered the body of a man lying in a pool of blood.

The man was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The deceased has been identified as Brandon Barker.

Officers of the San Juan Police Station are continuing investigations.

 

Two minors charged with murder

Two teenagers are expected to appear before the Port of Spain Children’s Court today, charged with the murder of Keenan Smith, which occurred on Wednesday 2nd January, 2019.

The two male minors were charged with murder on Thursday 10th January, 2019, by Sgt. Sydney Job, of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 2, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on that same date.

Murder in Carenage

A 35-year-old man has been shot and killed in Carenage.

Reports indicate that around 8pm residents of L'anse Mitan heard several loud explosions.

The police were contacted and on arrival discovered a man lying in a pool of blood. 

The victim, identified as Marcus Haynes also called "Markie", was taken to the St James Health Facility but pronounced dead on arrival.

Reports suggest he was caught in the crossfire of two warring gangs.

Investigations are ongoing.
