Man injured in Arima shooting dies at hospital

A gunman opened fire on a group of young men who were liming in Arima on Monday night.

According to reports, as the group dispersed with the men running in different directions, the gunman singled out Keefa Bartholomew and chased after him shooting him eight times in the chest.

The incident occurred shortly after 10 pm at Calvary Hill.

Bartholomew was taken to the Arima District Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police said Bartholomew was recently seen in a video that went viral on Six Use Media, with him posing with illegal firearms.

One dead following Tobago supermarket robbery

One Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) employee, who moonlighted as a security officer with MI4 Security Services, was shot dead early on Friday morning at Pennysavers Supermarket, Carnbee, Tobago.

ACP Tobago Vernon Roberts has confirmed that at approximately 1:20 am on Friday, Mark Nurse was shot dead by two masked men. 

He was part of the security detail removing the supermarket's sales for the day.

The thieves made off with the day's sales.

His fellow female officer—Atoyia Charles—who also was shot, was taken to the Scarborough Hospital.

Man shot and killed in Arouca

Arouca police are probing the circumstances that led to the death of a 20 year old man in Arouca, last night.

According to police reports, at about 9 last evening, residents of blue Muscle Street, Bon Air, heard several loud explosions.

The police were contacted and on arrival discovered the body of Antonio Richards lying in a pool of blood.

It is believed he was accosted by gunmen while walking in the vicinity of the community centre.

Antonio Richards was taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.


Five to hang for Dr Edward Khoury’s murder

Five men have been sentenced to death by hanging, after a jury found them guilty of the kidnapping and murder of Dr Edward Khoury.

High Court Judge Malcolm Holdip passed sentence on Shawn James, Caleb Donaldson, Jerome Murray, Terry Moore and Robert Franklyn shortly after 8 last evening, more than six hours after he sent the jury to decide on a verdict.

When the court reconvened just before 6pm, Justice Holdip revealed that the jury had requested clarity concerning the evidence of one witness.

Teen murdered by masked man

A teenager was killed by a "Gorilla" in Tunapuna on Thursday.

According to a police report, at about 3.50 pm, 18-year-old Kwami Lambert was shot multiple times by a man wearing a green gorilla mask.

Lambert was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he died while undergoing treatment.

A motive is yet to be established for the killing.

Woman's body identified

The woman whose body was found in Cunupia last week has been positively identified as 26-year-old Jana-Marie Moore, of Phase 6, La Horquetta.

The body was identified by Moore’s father at the Forensic Science Centre in St James on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, at about 2.15 pm, police officers received an anonymous call about the body.

They went to the location where they found the body in some bushes about 20 feet off from Ramcharitar Trace.

The woman's body bore multiple gunshot wounds to the face and upper body, and her hands were bound and her mouth gagged.

Shooting incident in Diego Martin

Two men were gunned down in Diego Martin last night.

CNC3 News understands that at around 7.45pm, 58-year-old Larry Joseph and 20-year-old Joseph Daniel were among a group of persons at Covigne Road, when they were shot and killed.

Daniel died at the scene while Joseph (of Cemetery Street) died while being treated at the St James Health Facility.

A third person, who was shot in the arm, was taken to hospital.

Pictures have begun circulating on social media showing one of the victims clenching several $100 bills.

Investigations are continuing.


Woodbrook attacks, assaults, robberies on the increase

Over the past five years there have been over 100 attacks against residents of Woodbrook.

The latest attacks were a home invasion where an 85-year-old woman was brutally beaten along with her amputee son, a robbery and an attempted rape.

Murder in Arima

A man was gunned down in Arima on Wednesday morning.

Guardian Media understands that at about 10 am, a man identified as Dexter "Buju" Murray was at Southerland Road, off Olton Road, when a gunman approached him and shot him dead.

Murray's last known address was given as San Juan.

A motive is yet to be established for the killing.



Labourers in court for murder

Three labourers, who have been charged with murder, will have their matter heard again on Monday 30th December 2019.

The men—who are from Freeport—were remanded into custody after appearing before a Chaguanas magistrate on Monday, charged with the murder of 41-year-old Bissram Ramkissoon, of Ramlogan Street, Uquire Road, Freeport.
