Murder in Laventille

A 38-year-old man was gunned down while seated in a parked vehicle on Thursday night at Laventille.

The victim has been identified as Sterling Singh, of Belle Eau Road in Belmont.

Police said at about 8.45 pm, Singh was seated in the driver's seat of a car at Gibson Trace off Old St. Joseph Road in Laventille, when a gunman approached him and opened fire.

Singh was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention.

Investigations are continuing.



Woman killed in Edinburgh 500

Police are trying to determine the motive behind the murder of an Edinburgh 500 woman on Wednesday evening.

Dead is Shanice Williams, of 15th Street, Edinburgh 500.

According to reports, at about 10 pm, she was called out of her house by someone. When she walked out to answer them, several loud explosions were heard.

The mother of one was shot about the body.

A motive for her killing has not been established, however, investigations are ongoing.

Shanice Williams is the 56th woman murdered this year so far.



Suspects held in Valencia murder

Three male suspects wanted in connection with the murder of 30-year-old Marcus Marshall, have been arrested by Northern Division police officers.

The men were caught during an Operation Strike Back Two exercise, conducted in the Carapo district, yesterday.

According to police reports, the three suspects—a 35-year-old, a 29-year-old and a 25-year-old, all of Carapo—were arrested in connection with the murder incident, which occurred in the Valencia district Tuesday night.

The men were subsequently taken to the La Horquetta Police Station for questioning.

Man held for St James food vendor murder

A man has been detained in connection to a shooting incident which claimed the life of food vendor in St James.

According to police reports, around 8 last evening a gunman walked up to the owner of the Grill King burger cart along the Western Main Road in St James and opened fire on him, at point blank range.

The victim has since been identified as Neil Dwarika of Bournes Road, St James.

Matelot village mourns death of Exemplar youth

The quiet and peaceful fishing village of Matelot is plunged into mourning following the murder of an exemplar youth, 21-year-old Odion Graham.

According to a police report, at about 11.30 pm on Monday villagers heard several gunshots in the vicinity of Santa Cruz Road Matelot.

A party of officers were called to the scene where they found Graham dead on the roadway. He was shot several times to the head and back.

Graham lived at the corner Santa Cruz Road and Samuel Street.

Murder in Belmont

The murder count continues to rise, following a murder in Belmont early this morning

Police say 23 year-old Shakeem Roberts was liming on some steps in the area at about 12:30 this morning, when a gunman approached, shot him, and then ran away.

Roberts died on the spot.

Investigations continue.

Police probe two murders, two hours apart

Homicide detectives are investigating two unrelated murders that took place in North Trinidad on Sunday night, within the space of two hours.

In the later incident, shortly after 9 pm, Derrick Valentine, 33, of Covigne Road, Diego Martin, was at his home with his family when two gunmen men stormed into the house.

The men then opened fire, shooting Valentine multiple times about the body before escaping.

Valentine was taken to the St James infirmary where he died while undergoing emergency treatment.

Boyfriend charged with Dolmati's murder

The boyfriend of Dolmati Mangroo has been charged for her murder.

23-year-old Nirmal Sullivan appeared before a Chaguanas magistrate today. 

Mangroo was found dead at the pig farmer's house last week.

According to reports, she had chop wounds about her body, her throat was slashed and her fingers chopped off.

She was discovered by relatives, who believe her murder was premeditated.


Murder in Maloney

A Maloney man is dead following a drive-by shooting in the area on Tuesday evening.

Reports are that at about 8:40 pm, 32-year-old Joel Gibson was standing along the roadway outside of Building 4, Apartment 1-3 East in Maloney Gardens, when a vehicle pulled alongside him.

Gibson reportedly had a short exchange with one of the passengers in the car, before he began to run away from the vehicle, as one of the occupants took aim at him.

Gibson was shot multiple times before the vehicle sped off.

His relatives took him to the Arima District Health Facility.

Triple shooting in Patna Village—one person dead

One person is dead following a triple shooting in Patna Village, Diego Martin, this morning.

According to reports, at approximately 8:20 am, three men were liming when shots were fired, killing one person and wounding two others.

Dead is 27-year-old Jonathan Abdool, also known as Chucky.

Luke Jaggassar—who goes by the alias Cripple—was shot in his leg. Another person identified only as Marcus was shot in his chest.
