More Venezuelan nationals have been intercepted in the Gulf of Paria by the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG), attempting to enter the country illegally.
According to a release issued by the TTCG, just before one o’clock this morning, twenty-six Venezuelan nationals were caught in a pirogue named Dona Josafena, with registration ARSI 3685.
The pirogue’s occupants included thirteen (13) adult males, four (4) adult females and nine (9) children.
18 Venezuelan nationals including three children were detained by police trying to enter the country illegally by boat in Carenage this morning.
Investigators told Guardian Media the Venezuelans from Guiria were held near the Smith Hill area in Carenage around 5:35am.
Officers of the Western Division intercepted the vessel and detained the persons.
The nine males seen in a Whatsapp video were made to lie on their stomachs while the six women and three children stood nearby.
