One man was arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Cunupia Police Station, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the district last night.
During the exercise, on Monday October 14th, officers executed a search warrant at the Raghunanan Road, Cunupia home of a 32-year-old man.
The search resulted in officers finding one black and chrome Beretta pistol, two magazines and 23 rounds of ammunition in the house.
The suspect, who was in the house at the time of the exercise, was arrested in connection with the find.
One man is in police custody after being held with a firearm and a quantity of marijuana.
According to police reports, officers of the Crime Suppression Unit were conducting an exercise in the Brazil Village district yesterday, when they observed a man acting suspiciously.
Upon seeing the officers, the man threw a blue bag into some nearby bushes and ran off.
The man was apprehended a short distance away and a search of the area resulted in the discovery of a loaded pistol and 700 grammes of marijuana.
Investigations are ongoing.

The exercise, spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Surrendra Sagramsingh and supervised by Sgt. Simeon Guelmo and Cpl (Ag.) Jason Lavia, was conducted on Thursday 11th October, 2018, during which officers proceeded to Second Street, San Juan, and conducted a search of an empty lot of land.

The exercise, spearheaded by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Surrendra Sagramsingh, took place between 12:00pm and 10:00pm on Sunday 15th July, 2018.
Around 6:50pm, officers proceeded to an empty parcel of land, located at the corner of Halls Lane and Pelican Extension Road, Morvant, where a search was conducted.
A pistol and a quantity of ammunition were discovered by officers of the Port of Spain Criminal Investigations Department, during an anti-crime exercise in the East Port of Spain district, yesterday.
During the exercise, coordinated by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Ajith Persad, officers proceeded to a bushy area near the Basilon Street Community Centre around 7:00pm on Monday 9th July, 2018, where a search was conducted.
There, they discovered a Glock pistol loaded with one magazine containing two rounds of 9mm ammunition. Investigations are continuing.

Acting on information, officers proceeded to a dirt track off Third Street, Bhagan Trace Extension, Perseverance Road, around 6:50 pm on Monday 11th June, 2018, where a search was conducted.
There, they discovered a black and chrome Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition hidden inside a plastic bag.
No arrest was made in connection with the find.
Three persons were arrested and one pistol along with a quantity of ammunition seized, by officers of the Couva CID, during an anti-crime exercise in the district, yesterday.
The exercise coordinated and supervised by ASP (Ag.) Michael Pierre and including officers of the Couva CID, Crime Patrol and Major Crimes Unit and Canine Branch, was conducted between 12noon and 8:00pm.
Police say that during the exercise they had cause to stop and search a blue Nissan Tiida motor vehicle, which was proceeding along Exchange Road, Couva, with three male occupants.
A Glock pistol wrapped in a black cloth, was discovered by officers of the Fyzabad Police Station, during an anti-crime exercise, in the Fyzabad district yesterday, police said in a press statement Friday.
The exercise, supervised by Sgt. (Ag.) Rishi Ramsaran, and including officers of the Fyzabad CID, was conducted around 1:30pm, on Thursday 8th March, 2018.
Based on information, the officers proceeded to Gower’s Well Road, Fyzabad, where they conducted a search of a bushy area, and made the discovery.

PCs Justin Deonath and Artherly Figaro and WPC Annika St. George, were on mobile patrol around 12:30 am on Sunday in San Fernando, when they had cause to stop a silver Nissan AD Wagon with three male occupants, along the Tarouba Link Road, Marabella.
A search of the vehicle resulted in a Glock 19 pistol and 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition being discovered under the driver’s seat.
