Police are at a Gonzales Village in Point Fortin where it is suspected that a baby was buried.
Up to mid-morning, there was no-confirmation that a body was found.
However, officers were told by a relative of a woman who recently gave birth, that the child was stillborn after delivery.
It was believed that the woman buried the child.
Homicide investigators said if a child is found, an autopsy will be needed to determine how the child died.

Police have launched an investigation into a viral video showing six students of the Diego Martin North Secondary School smoking what appears to be marijuana.
Minister of Education, Anthony Garcia told a media conference this morning that Police Commissioner Gary Griffith wrote to him saying that the police have identified the school and would be conducting inquiries.
Minister Garcia said that Griffith contacted him again, to say that police officers from the West End Police Station and personnel from the Child Protection Unit visited the school and spoke to the principal.
A confrontation between members of the Public Services Association (PSA) and police today as police were called in to clear a room of PSA workers who turned up for a meeting with the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO).
According to reports, the PSA executive were to meet with the CPO to continue negotiations for the 2013 to 2019 period.
However, the CPO felt that too many people were in the room and walked out, prompting protest action by the PSA members.
The Guard and Emergency Branch of the Police Service were called in and to clear the room.
The Police Service says it has arrested and charged a total of seven persons under the Anti-Gang Legislation between October 2018 and now.
A statement issued by the Police Service today says that the arrests included a known gang leader who was charged by the Organized Crime and Intelligence Unit (OCIU).
The Anti-Gang Act of 2018 seeks to discourage membership of criminal gangs and suppress gang activity.
Act 1 of 2018, Section (6) (1) characterizes gang membership as:
(a) a person who is a gang leader;
(b) a gang member;
Scores of police officers descended upon the head office of A&V drilling in San Francique today.
Heavily armed officers could be seen outside the business place, as their plainclothes counterparts, believed to be from the Fraud Squad Unit, were seen heading inside. It is not clear if the raid is connected with the alleged fake oil scandal.

A suspended soldier turn robber was shot dead by police as a suspect in the robbery and murder of an SRP serving as a security guard at a Boundary Road liquor mart.
The daring robbery at the liquor mart left a Special Reserve Police officer and part-time security guard, Cleavon Frederick dead.
Police reports indicate that that three men entered the liquor mart and announced a hold-up.
Frederick was shot in the head.
The men then made their escape in a white Nissan Tiida vehicle.

A police officer and a Special Reserve Police (SRP) have been granted a total of $140,000 bail after they appeared in court charged with stealing money from a man after arresting him, last year.
Acting Cpl Anthony Seebaran, 45, of Victory Heights, Arima, and SRP Lester Jones, 38, of Pelican Extension, Morvant, were granted bail after they appeared before Magistrate Marissa Gomez in the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
