The Government says it has heard the voices of those wanting to see the National Academy of the Performing Arts reopened but says it cannot do so until it is certain that it will be safe for all users.
The Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts issued a statement today in response to the calls.
The following is the full statement:
"The Lord Kitchener (Aldwyn Roberts) Auditorium at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) was developed to be the premier performance space for Trinidad and Tobago.
Police are at this time trying to identify a human head which was found in a garbage heap along Pall Mall street in Port-of-Spain.
Police say the head was found badly decomposed and that they cannot say if it is that of a man or a woman.
The gruesome discovery was made around five o'clock this morning by sanitation workers attached to the Port-of-Spain City Corporation.
Police officers journeyed to the Beetham landfill in search of finding the rest of the body.
The head has been taken to the Forensic Sciences Centre for examination.
