Hospital probes woman’s death after giving birth

The griev­ing com­mon-law hus­band of 26-year-old Maquad­er Mar­tin wants an­swers be­fore his wife is laid to rest.

Davis Nedd is claim­ing that his wife’s death was due to neg­li­gence on the part of the med­ical per­son­nel at the Ma­ter­ni­ty Ward of the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

Mar­tin died on the floor near the bath­room area of the ma­ter­ni­ty ward on Sat­ur­day, three days af­ter she gave birth to her first ba­by.

Kensington Palace made the announcement this morning and according to preliminary reports, Meghan and Harry will become a family of three next spring. 
The Queen and other senior royals were told about the pregnancy on Friday when members of the Royal Family gathered in Windsor for Princess Eugenie's wedding.

Health: Study finds epilepsy drug given to pregnant women harmed up to 4,100 children

A drug given to pregnant women for epilepsy and bipolar disorder caused "serious malformations" in up to 4,100 children, a French study suggests.

Mothers treated with valproate for epilepsy were up to four times likelier to give birth to a malformed child, the preliminary study found.

Introduced in France in 1967, valproate is prescribed widely worldwide.

Doctors in France are now advised not to give it to girls, women of childbearing age and pregnant women.

There was no immediate comment from the drug's manufacturer, Sanofi.

Sport: Serena Williams appears to confirm pregnancy

World number two Serena Williams has appeared to announce on social media that she is pregnant.

The 35-year-old posted a picture of herself on Snapchat posing in a mirror with the message: "20 weeks" before deleting the post.

If confirmed, the American, who won a record 23rd Grand Slam in Australia this January, will miss most of the remaining tennis season.

This includes three Grand Slams - the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open.
