PSC submits recommendations for Police Commissioner to President

The process to appoint a substantive Commissioner of Police inched closer to reality today after the Police Service Commission submitted its recommendations to the Office of the President.

The PSC, in a statement, said the nominations for both the positions of Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioners of Police have been submitted to President Anthony Carmona in accordance with the procedures set out in Section 123 of the Constitution.

21 gun salute in Tacarigua for late former president

The Ministry of National Security is advising members of the public that the late former president George Maxwell Richards will be accorded a 21 gun salute in recognition of his service to the nation as President and Commander in Chief.

The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force will execute the 21 gun salute at the Belgroves Funeral Home, Orange Grove Road, Tacarigua on Wednesday 17th January, 2018 between the hours of 2 pm and 3 pm.

Professor Richards will be cremated following a private service at the funeral home.

Professor Julien has joined many offering condolences on the passing of the former president.

Funeral set for Wednesday; body to lie in State & transported through UWI

The funeral of former President George M/axwell will take place on Wednesday of next week, a statement by the Ministry of Foreign and Caricom Affairs said.

The body of the late president will lie in State for two days on Monday and Tuesday and will also be transported through the University of the West Indies where the former president served as principal.

The Ministry of Foreign and Caricom Affairs has issued the following statement;
