Naps boy wins President's Medal, Silver

Another Debe student Joshua Mohan from Naparima College has copped the President's Medal (Silver).

This follows the achievement of Debe's Golden Girl, Cassandra Khan, 17 of Naparima Girls High School who won President's Medal Gold.

The Debe pupils who attended Cedar Grove Private School and Canaan Presbyterian Primary School in the Penal/Debe electoral region, live less than two miles apart.

Balancing her studies with her spiritual growth has worked out well for Cassandra Khan who won the President's Medal, Gold for outstanding performance in the 2018 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examinations.

The 18-year-old Naparima Girls High School pupil, who lives with her parents Nancy and Haroun Khan at Ragoo Village, Wellington Road, expressed jubilation at her award.

In an interview, Cassandra said she was able to accomplish everything through the blessing of Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ. 

Prayer, support key to President Medal winner's success

Ex­press­ing ela­tion at hav­ing tied for the Pres­i­dent’s Medal award, Sad­hana Bal­ladin last evening said she was sur­prised when Ed­u­ca­tion Min­is­ter An­tho­ny Gar­cia an­nounced her name for the cov­et­ed award based on her per­for­mance in CAPE ex­ams yes­ter­day.

In an in­ter­view with Guardian Me­dia, Bal­ladin said, “It was un­ex­pect­ed and I was hon­est­ly quite sur­prised. I want to thank God, my par­ents, my fam­i­ly, my teach­ers in school and lessons and all those who sup­port­ed me.”

Students of St Joseph's Convent POS, Lakshmi Girls win President's Medal for CAPE

Raquel Le Blanc of St Joseph Convent, Port-of-Spain and Priya Maharaj of Lakshmi Girls' Hindu College have won the President's Medal this year. 

The announcement was made this afternoon at the Ministry of Education.

In making the announcement, Education Minister Anthony Garcia expressed his concern that girls outperformed boys in CAPE and that the scholarships were mostly won by science students. 

A total of 389 scholarships have been awarded to CAPE students.
