Police are investigating a brutal attack on the principal of the Tunapuna (Simbhoonath Capildeo) Hindu Primary School by two men yesterday.
Up to press time, principal Jeewan Ramdhanie was being treated at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mount Hope for injuries he sustained in the attack, which happened in full view of all those who were still on the school compound at the time. The T&T Guardian was told the incident left teachers and students highly traumatised.

The Ministry says the principal has not been found guilty of anything and that he has only been asked to cease to report to work until the investigations at the school are complete.

"The Ministry of Education takes this opportunity to clarify incorrect statements and media reports suggesting the suspension of a school principal by the Ministry of Education.
Two students of the Rio Claro East High School are in police custody after allegedly beating up the school's principal.
Police said that around 2.30pm, two Form 4 male students, both aged 16, were fighting on the school's compound when the principal attempted to intervene and break up the fight.
Police said that two students then turned on the principal, during which he was dealt several blows about his body.
The principal, Warren Garaway, was rushed to the Rio Claro Health Centre where he was treated for cuts, bruises, and swelling about his body.
