Sangre Grande man missing

The TTPS is seeking the urgent assistance of the public in locating 46-year-old Nicholas Roderick.

Nicholas, of Paul Street, Sangre Grande, was last seen leaving home at 6:30 pm on November 3rd 2018.

He was reported missing to the Sangre Grande Police Station on May 23rd.

Nicholas is of African descent, 5 feet 8 inches tall, slim built, with a dark brown complexion and an afro hairstyle.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Nicholas Roderick is asked to contact the police at 999, 911, 800-TIPS or any police station or text/WhatsApp 482-GARY

Weekend without water for POS and environs

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising customers in Port-of-Spain and environs that there will be an interruption in their pipe-borne water supply from 4 pm on Friday to 4 pm on Sunday.

WASA says this interruption is to facilitate the relocation of two transmission mains along the Beetham Highway, between the Lighthouse and Abattoir Road (in the vicinity of the PTSC compound).

The affected areas will include:

Downtown Port-of-Spain
St James
Parts of Woodbrook
St. Ann’s

Water disruption in South West Trinidad

The Water and Sewerage Authority is advising customers in parts of South-West Trinidad that there will be an interruption in their pipe-borne water supply on Thursday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

This is to facilitate pipeline interconnection works along the South Trunk Road, La Romaine, in the vicinity of Mosquito Creek.

Chaguanas man missing

The TTPS is seeking the urgent assistance of the public in locating 24-year-old Steven Mathew Otway.

Steven, of Montrose Main Road, Chaguanas, was last seen leaving his home around 8:10 am, on May 11th.

He was reported missing to the Chaguanas Police Station, around 9:30 pm, on May 13th, by his neighbour.

Steven is of mixed descent, 5 feet 6 inches tall and slim built with a brown complexion and short hair.

He was last seen wearing a pair of ¾ jeans.

Steven has a tattoo of a cross on his right shoulder and one of the word ‘Monica’ on his chest.

US Embassy forced to cancel non-immigrant visa interviews today

The US Embassy is advising that it cannot conduct any interviews related to Non-Immigrant Visa applications today as a result of a disruption in services.

The embassy made the announcement on its social media accounts on Thursday.

It said: "There is currently a worldwide disruption of our consular systems. As a result we are unable to work on NIV applications and must cancel interviews today. Affected applicants will be contacted via email ASAP."

The embassy has apologised to applicants for the inconvenience.

PM: Heritage buildings back in shape by December

White­hall should be the home of the Cab­i­net once again by the end of June, Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley has an­nounced.

The Prime Min­is­ter, while ad­dress­ing a Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment po­lit­i­cal meet­ing in Ch­agua­nas on Tues­day, said the restora­tion of White­hall, was mere­ly a part of con­tin­u­ing re­fur­bish­ment of the Mag­nif­i­cent Sev­en, which he said should trans­form Queen’s Park West by De­cem­ber.

Locusts spread in Chatham

Despite continuous spraying, thousands of locusts have now moved out of the forests of Cedros and are chomping down on fruit trees and vegetation in the southwestern peninsula.

Farmers have ramped up their domestic spraying and are calling on the Minister of Agriculture Clarence Rambharat to immediately fix the dysfunctional spraying tractor and mobilize more spray teams.

So far about five men have been tasked with spraying fields in Chatham, Coromandel and Cap-de-Ville where swarms of locusts have been seen. 

Eid holiday declared - June 5th

Minister of Communications Stuart Young has announced that Wednesday June 5th has been declared as Eid-Ul-Fitr and therefore a national holiday in Trinidad and Tobago.

Eid-ul-Fitr or Id-Ul-Fitr, often abbreviated simply as 'Eid', is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in the Islamic calendar and it occurs after the sighting of the new crescent moon which signals the end of the month of Ramadan.

Eid is an Arabic term meaning "festivity" or "celebration" while Fitr means "to break the fast".

The announcement was made at today's post-Cabinet news conference.

California teen missing

The TTPS is seeking the urgent assistance of the public in locating 15-year-old Christina Ramnarine.

Christina a pupil of the Couva West Secondary School, was last seen leaving her Junon Street East, California home, around 8:30 am on Wednesday, May 1st.

She was reported missing to the Couva Police Station, around 6:00 pm, on that same date, by her mother.

Christina is of East Indian descent, 5 feet 1 inch tall and slim built with a brown complexion and long black hair.
