Police concerned as pedestrian road deaths on the rise

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is expressing concern over what it calls the alarming increase in road deaths involving pedestrians for the year thus far.

The Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch Records and Statistics Unit, reports that nine (9) of the fourteen (14) road deaths for 2018, comprise pedestrians, accounting for 64% of total road fatalities for the year, compared to 21% or three (3) fatalities, for the corresponding period in 2017.

The TTPS is urging all road users to exercise extreme care when using the roadways.
