Police issue warning after blatant robbery of woman in car

A warning this afternoon for motorists, more so women, to be extra vigilant in the St James area especially at night.

This comes after CCTV footage of two men attacking a woman has gone viral on social media.

The attack took place at the corner of Delhi and Calcutta streets in St James last week.

The attackers were seen blocking the woman’s path with a van and then smashing her car windows.

They managed to make off with only a handbag and the woman, while shaken, was otherwise unharmed.

Arima teen held for supermarket robbery and murder

A Pinto Road, Arima teen has been arrested for the brazen armed robbery at a supermarket along the Eastern Main Road, Maturita Village, on Saturday night which left the guard dead and three injured. 

Four unmasked bandits walked into Cantonese Superstore shortly after 8.15 pm and pretended to be customers just before closing time.

After walking through the store they approached the cashier and other workers and customers and whipped out guns. 

Police said a mini-machine gun and pistols were used by the killers.

Caught on Camera: Bandits terrorise patrons of Mayaro bar

A security video inside a bar in Mayaro, has captured four bandits terrorising patrons on Tuesday night.

The video was captured via a security camera inside the bar.

It shows bandits tying up the bars proprietor before searching through the bar for cash and other valuables.

The bandits also tried to destroy the security camera's recording base.

Pricesmart assistant manager among two charged with $1.5 million robbery

An assistant manager employed with Price Smart Trinidad Ltd, Mausica location, appeared before Arima 2nd Court Magistrate, Debby-Ann Bassaw, charged in the July 3rd ,2016, $1.5Mn robbery at the business place, a statement by the Police Service says.

Kerlon Smith, of No.20 Eventide Court Trincity, had been a Price Smart employee for three years.

Smith, 33, was remanded in custody until July 18th, 2016, and advised by the court to apply to a judge in chamber for bail.

$1.5 million robbery at PriceSmart

Police are currently searching for three men wanted for robbing the Mausica branch of Pricesmart last night.

It's reported that around 8 o'clock, three armed men entered the building and then ordered one of the managers to open a vault in which cash was being kept.

The assailants stuffed a large sum of cash into bags and initial estimates place the sum to be at $1.5 million dollars. T

The suspects managed to escape despite several road blocks that were set up by police.

No one was hurt in the ordeal.

Ex-soldier arrested in connection with robbery

An ex-solider has been arrested in connection with a robbery in central Trinidad.

And a dog attached to the police service is today being hailed the hero responsible for the capture.

Reports are that around 2:15 pm yesterday, the former soldier and two other men entered a home at Ravine Sable Road in Longdenville.

PC Benjamin has died

PC Anson Benjamin, who was shot while responding to a robbery in St Clements, has died at hospital.

PC Benjamin passed away at 11.15 this morning at the San Fernando General Hospital, where he was in a medically-induced coma at the Intensive Care Unit.

No.14862 PC Anson Benjamin, 45, of Stewart Street, Pleasantville, had 16 years of dedicated service and was a father of five children.
