Police officers have arrested the third suspect in Tuesday night’s attempted robbery at One Plus One supermarket at Munroe Road, Cunupia.
The suspect, who was shot and wounded during a shootout with the police, still managed to run out of the supermarket and get into a waiting getaway car. However, the driver took the wounded bandit straight to the Eric Williams Medical Complex in Mount Hope for treatment, where medical officials would have alerted the police as is the protocol with such injuries.
Over $30,000 in cash was found stolen from a vault at Wendy’s Restaurant in Woodbrook.
According to a police report, employees secured the restaurant after operations at about 11.30 pm on Monday and upon their return at about 5 am they discovered an access door broken into.
Further checks revealed that the vault of the restaurant was broken into and its contents including cash, documents and other valuable items were stolen.
Police said other areas in the establishment were also ransacked.
Officers of the St James Police Station are continuing investigations.
Two men aged 19 and 26 and a 30-year-old woman have been detained by police in connection with a series of robberies committed against salespersons in Central Trinidad.
According to police reports, the first incident took place around 6:35 pm, when a saleswoman who was conducting business at the Preysal Flyover, was approached by a man who announced a robbery and relieved her of $173.00 and ran off.
Later that evening around 8:00 pm, another saleswoman was robbed at St. Mary’s Junction, Freeport, of $400.
The three men who were arrested in connection with the robbery of a KFC outlet in Siparia on Friday, have appeared before the Siparia Magistrates’ Court, to answer to the charges.
Avin Khan aka ‘Kevin’, 20; Brent Lall aka ‘Crix’, 22; and Nicholas Francis aka ‘Nicko’, 25, all of San Francique Road, Penal, were jointly charged with robbery with aggravation and possession of a firearm.
Francis faces an additional charge of common assault.
All three men appeared before Magistrate Margaret Alert on Tuesday.
A La Brea man is set to appear before the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court today, to answer charges arising out of a robbery and kidnapping incident of a 44-year-old male victim.
Roy Henry, a 37-year-old of Sobo Village, La Brea, was charged with kidnapping, robbery with aggravation and burglary, following investigations into the kidnapping and robbery of a 44-year-old taxi driver from San Fernando on Sunday.
The victim told police that he was entering his yard around 1 am on the said date, when two men, one armed with a gun and the other with a cutlass approached him.
Three men have been held in connection with a robbery at a mini-mart in Siparia and are due to appear before the Siparia Magistrates’ Court today.
All three are facing 13 charges arising from the incident after being charged by officers of the Siparia Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Kevin Nickie aka ‘Bug’, a 38-year-old labourer of Moruga; Jason Glascow, a 33-year-old of Siparia; and Enrique Rigoux, a 32-year-old taxi driver of D’Abadie, were arrested following investigations into a robbery at a mini-mart in Quarry Village, Siparia.

According to police reports, the owners of a bar in Quarry village were conducting business at their establishment when they were approached by two men armed with guns.
The men announced a holdup and dealt both victims several blows to the head before robbing them of a quantity of cash, cigarettes, a cellular phone and the keys for a Nissan Tiida motor vehicle.
The assailants then made their escape in a black Toyota Yaris motor vehicle.
A Talparo man was held in connection with a robbery at a mini-mart last week in the Longdenville area.
He is due to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate charged with robbery with aggravation, against two victims, malicious damage and possession of ammunition.
Serdon Atwell, 34, of Todds Road, Talparo, was charged after being arrested by officers of the Central Division Task Force at his home, following a robbery and police-involved shooting on Friday 12th October, 2018.
