Two men arrested within minutes of robbing bar

Two men are arrested by officers of the St. Joseph Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and St. Joseph Crime Patrol Unit, within minutes of robbing a bar owner and three male bar patrons of quantities of cash and cellular phones, in the Curepe district.

According to police reports the 30-year-old bar owner, along with three men; a 37-year-old and a 43- year old, both of St. Joseph and a 39-year-old of St. Augustine, were at the bar located at Curepe Junction, around 1:55 pm, on August 20th  when four men entered and announced a robbery. 

Matura man and teenager charged with Shop Breaking and Larceny

Mickyle Daniel a 20-year-old man from High Street Matura and a 15-year-old boy is expected to appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate today, jointly charged with shop breaking and larceny of a mini-mart in Matura 

According to police reports, Daniel and the teenager were arrested on August 18th after being caught in the act of stealing several items from a mini-mart located at 10 ¾ Mile Mark, Toco Main Road, Matura.

Two held by police for stealing BMW

A 26-year-old mechanic from Tarouba and a 29-year-old welder from St. John's village is in police custody after being arrested in connection with a report of larceny of a motor vehicle, by Southern Division officers.

According to police reports officers attached to the San Fernando Criminal Investigations Department (CID), responded to a report of two men seen tampering with a beige BMW sedan parked along St. Vincent Street, San Fernando, around 12:20 am on August 16th.

Police hold San Juan man minutes after robbing woman of cellphone

A San Juan man is arrested by officers of the St. Joseph Police Station, minutes after robbing a 25-year-old Tunapuna woman of her cellular phone. 

According to police reports, the victim told officers that she was standing along the Priority Bus Route in Mt. Hope, around 7:00 pm on August 16th when she was approached by a man who slapped her in her face and stole her cellular phone, before walking away. 

Serial burglar jailed for 5 years

A serial burglar who stole equipment valued at $24,500 from a poultry depot has been jailed by a Couva magistrate for five years.

Ishmeed Mohammed, 30, of Teelucksingh Street East, California, who does odd jobs in his community, pleaded guilty to shop breaking and larceny.

Hard labour for two San Fernando men charged with robbery at bar

Two San Fernando men each pleaded guilty to four counts of robbery with aggravation, against four victims during a bar robbery, when they appeared before a Princes Town Magistrate.

Hubert Riley, 26, and Shyeim Proverbs, 22, both of Pleasantville, San Fernando, appeared before Senior Magistrate Rae Roopchand, in the Princes Town 1st Magistrates’ Court, on Monday 23rd July, 2018, to answer to the charges.

Riley was sentenced to 30 months’ hard labour for each count, while Proverbs was sentenced to 48 months’ hard labour for each count.

Siparia man charged with three counts of robbery with violence

A Siparia man is remanded into custody after appearing before a Siparia Magistrate, charged with three counts of robbery with violence against a family, which occurred on Thursday 19th July, 2018.

Bryan George, 28, of Clara Gregory Street, Siparia, pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared before Magistrate Margaret Alert in the Siparia 1st Magistrates’ Court, on Monday 23rd July, 2018.

The matter was postponed to Monday 20th August, 2018.

$100,000 bail for St Joseph man on robbery, kidnapping charges

A St. Joseph man, who was arrested by officers of the Central Division hours after a report of robbery and kidnapping against a Cunupia man, has appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate to answer to the charges.

Leon Gonzales, 27, a machine fitter, of Royal Road, Maracas, St. Joseph, was granted $100,000 bail with surety, after appearing before Magistrate Christine Charles in the Chaguanas 1st Magistrates’ Court, on Friday 13th July, 2018.

The matter has been postponed to Friday 10th August, 2018.

Three men detained by police for factory robbery

Three men aged 22, 28 and 53 are now in police custody in connection with a warehouse robbery.

According to police reports on Sunday 8th July 2018, the manager of a flour Mill and feed production factory along Carli Bay Road, Point Lisas, Couva,  discovered a door to the factory broken and several items missing.

A report was made to the Couva police station and an investigation was launched.

The men were arrested during anti-crime exercise by the Couva Criminal Investigations Department on Thursday 12th July 2018.
