Gasparillo man in police custody for impersonating a police officer during robbery

A Gasparillo man, 24, is currently detained at the Rio Claro Police Station accused of impersonating a police officer whilst committing a robbery in the Rio Claro district yesterday.

According to police reports around 9:30 am on Monday 28th May 2018, three armed men, dressed in what appeared to be police uniform, entered a feed depot along San Pedro Road, Rio Claro and announced a robbery. 

The 43-year-old proprietor was robbed of TT$1900 and a cell phone. 

During the robbery, his brother entered the establishment and was tied up and also robbed of TT$900.

Scotiabank worker shot in San Fernando robbery

A Scotiabank employee is warded at the San Fernando General Hospital after being shot during an early morning robbery.

Roston Mahabir was shot outside the bank around 7.30 this morning.

Scotiabank confirmed the shooting in a statement issued Monday morning.

It said medical services were immediately alerted and he was taken to hospital.

The bank says it is offering counselling to other members of staff.

Report indicate that Mahabir was accosted and that the assailant grabbed a bag belonging to him before firing a shot at him.

Two charged with robbing three supermarkets

Two 20-year-old men, charged with five counts of robbery with aggravation against three supermarkets operated by Chinese nationals, are granted bail with surety totalling $350,000, after appearing before the Chaguanas Magistrates’ 1st Court, on Monday 7th May, 2018.

Chakeem Horne of Munroe Road, Cunupia, and Mikael Williams of Railway Road, Enterprise, pleaded not guilty to the charges when they appeared before Senior Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor, to answer the charges for the offences which occurred between Wednesday 27th December, 2017 and Friday 9th March, 2018.

Three hours of terror as bandits chop, stab and rob pastor's family

Hog-tied, gagged and bleeding heavily, a La Romaine pastor begged Jehovah God to spare his life after bandits stormed his home, chopping him and his son before stealing two vehicles, jewellery and cash totalling more than $.5 million early yesterday.

For three hours, Pastor Junior Anderson, his wife Anna, 66 and son Michael, 32, were held under siege while the robbers smashed their home seeking a vault which did not exist.

Father, son chopped by bandits in home invasion

An early morning robbery has left a father and a son warded at hospital nursing chop wounds.

Reports indicate that around 2 am a family was asleep at their La Romaine home when bandits entered and announced a hold-up.

The assailants tied up the family and proceeded to relieve them of cash, jewelry and other valuables from the home.

Before fleeing, the bandits dealt several chops to the 62-year-old man and his 32-year-old son.

The bandits also stole two motor vehicles belonging to the family.


Man charged with robbing pensioner of $3,000

An Erin man is expected to appear before a Siparia Magistrate today, charged with larceny person after he allegedly stole $3000 from a pensioner, on Tuesday 3rd April, 2018.

Sherwin Joseph, 28, of Puerto Grande Road, Erin, was arrested by officers of the Erin Police Station some 30 minutes after allegedly robbing a pensioner.

The 60-year-old victim was cashing his pension cheque at Beharrysingh’s Lotto Place, Erin Junction, Erin, around 3 pm yesterday, when a man snatched the money from his hands and ran towards the beach at Erin.

Three arrested minutes after robbing bar employee

Three men were arrested by officers of the St Joseph Crime Patrol Unit, minutes after robbing an employee of Russel’s Bar, at Spring Village, Valsayn yesterday afternoon.

A 25-year-old employee of the establishment was overseeing a roulette machine, around 5:30 pm, on Tuesday 27th March, 2018 when he was accosted by three men, one armed with a gun.

The men announced a robbery and the victim was relieved of a Samsung J7 cellular phone, valued at $2300, before leaving.

Search on for Hakka bandit

Police have mounted a search for a man who robbed Hakka restaurant on Sunday.

Shortly after 5 pm, a man entered a Hakka Express outlet located at the Shoppes of Maraval and proceeded to rob the establishment.

Footage captured by a CCTV camera shows the assailant forcing three female employees into what appears to be the kitchen area of the restaurant.

The bandit, who is met with opposition from a female staff member manages to force the women into the back room.
