Investigation launched into suicide at San Fernando General Hospital

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances which led to a patient committing suicide at the San Fernando General Hospital.

On Monday, a 25-year-old man was found hanging in a room at the Psychiatric Ward mere hours after being admitted.

According to a release issued by the South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA), a team has been established to look into the matter.

The release added that counseling has been offered and will be provided as required.

The San Fernando police who will conduct an independent investigation into the incident.

Mother's hand successfully reattached by surgeons

Surgeons successfully reattached the hand of the Freeport mother whose limb was severed during a cutlass attack allegedly by her son on Thursday.

Reports indicate that the surgery was successful, and the woman was recovering.

She is warded in the Intensive Care Unit of the San Fernando General Hospital.

The 46-year-old mother was chopped multiple times on her neck, chest and her right hand severed.

She is employed as a nurse.


Missing 71-year-old found at San Fernando General Hospital

Stephen Garcia, the 71-year-old of LP #249 Caratal Road, Gasparillo, who was reported missing by his grandniece, Tshora Garcia, on Thursday 9th February, 2017, has been found at the San Fernando General Hospital, a statement by the Police Service says.

The statement adds that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service thanks the public for its assistance in ensuring the man’s safe return.
