Police arrest Sangre Grande man with pistol, ammunition

One man was arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized, by officers of the Northern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in the Arima district over the weekend.

The exercise, coordinated by ACP McDonald Jacob, and spearheaded by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Michael Daniel, was conducted between 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm on Saturday, during which officers had cause to stop and search a silver Nissan Almera motor vehicle with a lone male occupant, in the vicinity of Rodney’s Supermarket, Cocorite Road.

Headless body discovered in Sangre Grande

The headless body of a man has been discovered in Sangre Grande.

According to police reports, on Wednesday evening a man was walking along See Ree Trace off Foster Road in Sangre Grande when he made the gruesome discovery. 

Preliminary reports suggest that the body could have been at the location for several days due to the state of decomposition. 

The police were called in and investigations are continuing.

Sangre Grande man charged with possession of pistol, ammunition

A Sangre Grande man was arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized, by officers of the Sangre Grande CID, during an anti-crime exercise in the district, this morning.

The exercise was conducted around 4:30 am, on Wednesday 7th February, 2018, and included officers of the Sangre Grande Task Force, Mayaro CID, Mayaro Task Force and Manzanilla, Matura and Valencia Police Stations.

Officers, acting on information, proceeded to Damarie Hill, Sangre Grande, where they executed a search warrant at a house in the area.

Minor among five to appear in court on kidnapping charges

A minor is among five persons expected to appear in court today on kidnapping charges. 

Five persons, including a minor, are expected to appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate today, charged with the kidnapping for ransom, of Brandon Sam, on August 23rd, 2017.

Two of the accused, DEOKUMAR LUTCHMAN, 39, a contractor, of Brierly Street, Sangre Grande and a teenager, are known to the victim.

Poultry depot owner chopped to death in Sangre Grande

A man has been chopped to death in Sangre Grande.

The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Sheldon Ramdhan, a poultry depot owner.

Reports indicate that he got into an argument with a man at his home in Sangre Grande late Monday evening.

The assailant is said to have dealt several chops about Ramdhan's body before fleeing the scene.

The police were called in and Ramdhan was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police say that the suspect turned himself into the Arima CID on Tuesday.

Police find homemade shotgun in Sangre Grande

A home-made shotgun has been discovered in Sangre Grande by officers of the Eastern Division Task Force, under the supervision of Snr. Supt. (Ag.), Garth Nelson, police say in a media statement.

The statement reports that officers, acting on information, went to a bushy area at Mulchan Street, Guaico, Sangre Grande, around 10:30 pm on Monday 15th May, 2017, where they found the firearm.

No arrests were made in connection with the find.

30-year-old Sangre Grande man charged with murder

A 30-year-old Sangre Grande man has been charged with murder.

Police says Ryan Trotman, a market vendor of Foster Road, Sangre Grande is charged with the murder of 50-year-old Robert Wells.

Wells was shot and killed at his home at Cedar Hill Trace, South Manzanilla Road, on April 21st.

He is also charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

He is due to appear before a Sangre Grande magistrate to answer the charges.

National clean-up campaign moves to Sangre Grande

The National Clean-Up Campaign will move to Sangre Grande this coming weekend, the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government has said.

On Saturday 22nd April, 2017 clean-up exercises will commence after a brief launch ceremony at the Administration Building on Ramdass Street, Sangre Grande at 8 am.
