Sat wins lawsuit against police

Sanatan Dhar­ma Ma­ha Sab­ha (SDMS) sec­re­tary gen­er­al Sat­narayan Ma­haraj and the or­gan­i­sa­tion's me­dia com­pa­ny Cen­tral Broad­cast­ing Ser­vices have won their law­suit over the re­fusal of the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) to dis­close the war­rant used to search Ra­dio and TV Jaag­gri­ti, in April.

De­liv­er­ing a 28-page judge­ment at the Hall of Jus­tice in Port-of-Spain, this af­ter­noon, High Court Judge Ron­nie Boodoos­ingh up­held the ju­di­cial re­view law­suit brought by Ma­haraj and the com­pa­ny.

Sat: T&T becoming a despotic state

Cit­ing sev­er­al high pro­file ar­rests of East In­di­ans cit­i­zens, Hin­du leader Sat­narayan Ma­haraj yes­ter­day claimed that a cer­tain group of peo­ple are be­ing tar­get­ed by the au­thor­i­ties.

In his ad­dress at the Sanatan Dhar­ma Ma­ha Sab­ha’s (SDMS) 19th an­nu­al In­di­an Ar­rival Day cel­e­bra­tions at Par­vati Girls’ Hin­du Col­lege in Debe yes­ter­day, Ma­haraj said he has been warned that he too will join that list.

Sat being investigated for sedition; police execute warrant on Radio Jaagriti

Officers of the Special Investigations Unit have executed a search warrant at Radio Jaagriti for evidence in relation to an alleged audio-visual clip, which aired on Tuesday 16th April, 2019.

This is according to a statement issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).

It said that officers, led by Inspector Wayne Stanley, proceeded to the radio station, located at Pasea Main Road, Tunapuna, with the objective of verifying the authenticity of the clip and to obtain a copy of the recording, for further investigations.

Devant condemns Sat's Tobago remark, calls on others to denounce it

Former executive member of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha, Devant Maharaj, has condemned the position taken by Sat Maharaj and is calling on others to denounce what he calls, Sat's "hateful rhetoric".

Devant Maharaj says he cannot, with good conscience, stand back and allow Sat's statements on Tobago to go without response.

He issued the following statement Thursday morning.

Tobago Forwards condemns Sat Maharaj

The Tobago Forwards' (TF)  has joined the chorus of voices denouncing  Secretary-General of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha Sat Maharaj's characterisation of Tobagonians as rapists with a lazy disposition. 

Maharaj made those statements on his television station TV Jaagriti on Tuesday. 

Tobagonian leaders, Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles and Minority Leader Watson Duke, have already decried Maharaj's remarks.

In a statement," TF's leader Christlyn Moore said: "More is expected from men who lead in the name of God."

Chief Secretary: Sat Maharaj's statement is racist and divisive

Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly Kelvin Charles says statements by Secretary General of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha Satnarayn Maharaj about Tobagonians are "disingenuous and unpatriotic... and are an attempt to  deprecate the Tobagonian child".

Charles was referring to Maharaj's comments about Tobagonians on his television station TV Jaagriti, on Tuesday.
