Suspended police officer arrested after shootout with police

A police officer on suspension has been arrested following a shootout with police last evening.

According to reports, while on patrol along KP Lands, La Plata, Valencia, police were alerted by two men that a man was threatening to shoot them.

On investigating, the officers confronted a man identified as Joshua Roberts who allegedly whipped out a firearm and opened fire on them.

The police returned fire and Roberts subsequently dropped his firearm.

The assailant was arrested, a Walther pistol and 14 rounds of ammunition were recovered at the scene.


Drug suspects arrested in Aripero following chase, shootout with police

Two men opened fire on police in a desperate bid to flee with drugs and guns at Aripero Village, Rousillac on Tuesday afternoon. 

Shortly after 3 pm, the police received a tip-off that the men were transporting guns and drugs in a green Tuscon. 

Officers from the South Western Divisional Task Force set up a roadblock along the Southern Main Road in Rousillac and attempted to intercept the van.

However, the driver accelerated and a chase ensued.

Upon reaching Aripero, the men attempted to flee using a side road.

Police kill two in Barataria

Two men are dead following a shootout with police in Barataria this morning.

According to police reports during an anti-crime exercise, the men are reported to have opened fire on police.

The returned fire leaving the two men dead.

Two revolvers were recovered from the scene.

Police detain man who kidnaps student following shootout with police

One man is in police custody after a shootout with police which resulted in one student being taken hostage.

One eyewitness says the suspect and a female student were arguing outside the compound, when police arrived the suspect started firing at the police.

He ran into the school where he held one 17-year-old male hostage.

The police were eventually able to talk him out of it and he surrendered.

The female student was not harmed.

Bandit killed in shootout with police

One bandit involved in an early morning robbery has been shot and killed by police and a search is now underway for two others.

Around 5:30 am, bandits forced themselves into the home of a family located at Wallerfield.

The armed intruders tied up the occupants, ransacked the house and made off with the family's two vehicles.

An alarm was raised and police were notified of the robbery.

Around 6.20am, officers intercepted the stolen vehicles along the Carapo Road.

It resulted in a high-speed chase during which the bandits crashed the stolen vehicles.

18-year-old hospitalised after shootout with police in Chaguanas; 7 arrested

A shootout with armed bandits, along Endeavour Road, Chaguanas, ended with the arrest of seven persons and the seizure of a pistol, a quantity of ammunition and two fake guns, police say in a statement.

The drama unfolded around 11:45 pm on Thursday 8th June, 2017, when officers of the Cunupia CID, on mobile patrol in the Cunupia district and acting on information, intercepted a white AD wagon, with seven male occupants.

The suspects were allegedly on their way to rob a bar at Jerningham Junction, Cunupia.

Murder suspect killed in police shootout

Police have shot and killed a man in Valencia after a shootout.

It is being reported that a team from the northeastern division task force was making inquiries related to a suspect, identified as Jason Khan.

Police say they were fired upon and returned fire.

Officer Darren Francis was wounded in the exchange, but the suspect managed to escape.

However, he was accosted a short distance away at a house where he was shot and killed.

Officer Francis was rushed to the hospital where he is warded.
