13 Transit SRPs request transfer citing work conditions

Thirteen Special Reserved Officers (SRPs) attached to the Police Transit Unit have written to Police Commissioner Gary Griffith requesting a transfer out of the unit, citing various financial and workplace challenges.

Letters were sent to the Commissioner in November and again on January 10, listing the names of all the officers, their service numbers and phone numbers.

Letters were also sent to the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, 

Three SRPs charged with misbehaviour in public office

Three special reserve police officers have appeared before Chief Magistrate, Marcia AyersCaesar, charged with misbehavior in public office for corruptly soliciting money from a man whom they had wrongfully accused of human trafficking, a statement by the Police Service said.

No.6656 PC Ronald Modeste, No.5516 PC Nicholas Henry and No. 5351 PC Anderson Richards were each placed on bail in the sum of $90,000, $80,000 and $60,000 respectively when they appeared in the Port of Spain 8th Magistrate Court yesterday, December 5th, 2016.
