Two teenaged students missing

The police are seeking the public's assistance in locating two secondary students who have gone missing.

The two 15-years-old were reported missing by their parents in two separate incidents.

According to reports, Joshua Borneo, a pupil of the North Eastern College was reported missing by his mother Denise Briggs on Tuesday.

He is slim built, weighs about 125 pounds and has a low hairstyle.

He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue and white three quarter pants and black sneakers.

Education Ministry: Murdered Laventille teenagers were 'exemplary' students

The Ministry of Education is describing the two teenaged students who were shot and killed in Laventille on Thursday, as "exemplary students". 

The Education Ministry issued a statement today seeking to set the record straight with regards to the conduct of the students.

Former Education Minister wants talks on security at schools in 'hotspots'

Former Education Minister Dr Tim Gopeesingh is calling on the current Minister of Education to hold talks with the Acting Police Commissioner about security at schools considered to be in hotspot areas.

It comes in light of the murders of two teenagers from the Success Laventille Secondary School on Thursday.

Dr Gopeesingh issued the following statement today.

Education Ministry condemns murders of Success Laventille students

The Ministry of Education is condeming the shooting death of two students of the Success Laventille Secondary School.

The Ministry issued this statement in light of the shootings:

"The Ministry of Education is strongly condemning the shooting to death of two uniformed students of the Success Laventille Secondary School shortly after 3 pm on Thursday January 21st, 2016.

Two students shot dead in Laventille

Two students of the Success Laventille School have been shot dead.

The murdered teens have been identified as Denilson "Deeni" Smith of Mulrain Trace, Picton and Mark Richards of Sogren Trace.

Reports are at around 3:10 this afternoon four male students were heading North along Picton Road, Laventille when the vehicle in which they were travelling was stopped by four men armed with firearms.

The boys were then called to exit the vehicle and two of them were shot and killed. Some reports say they attempted to run but were pursued and killed.

Students, teachers put out new Munroe Road Hindu School

Teachers and students have been kicked out of the new Munroe Road Hindu School until it obtains the necessary approvals.

The old school was closed three weeks ago and its more than 300 students were moved into the school's new building.

However, officials at the Ministry of Education told the principal the new school still needs structural approval and until that is given, there can be no classes.
