Two suspects remain in police custody in relation to a kidnapping incident, following an anti-crime exercise in the Cumuto district yesterday, conducted by the recently launched Road Policing Task Force (RPTF).
The Road Policing Task Force—which initially commenced operations on 24 December 2019—is expected to actively engage in intelligence-driven, stop-and-search activities, in addition to road traffic exercises such as anti-DUI and speeding enforcement.
Three people were shot and wounded on Tuesday morning, ironically, in the same area where three people were found hacked to death on Monday morning in Arima.
The shooting occurred ten minutes after a man was arrested on a domestic violence report. It is alleged he physically assaulted a relative.
The victims have been identified as 43-year-old David Richardson alias “Scratchie”, of LP300 Getwell Avenue Extension; 22-year-old Jerlene Richardson, also of LP300 Getwell Avenue Extension; and 40-year-old Kelly Andrews, of River Street, Sangre Grande.
Three men currently are in police custody following a robbery in the San Juan area, in the wee hours of this morning.
CNC3 News understands that one of the men in police custody has connections to a special reserve police officer.
Details are still coming in, but initial reports are that at about 3:30 am, officers from the Emergency Response Patrol, the North-East Division Task Force and the San Juan CID, responded to a report of a robbery at #23 Silver Mill in San Juan.
Police have held two men for robbery after a high-speed chase along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in St Augustine.
Police say the men are suspects in the robbery of a Chinese-food restaurant in the Cane Fram/Trincity district.
The restaurant was robbed of an undisclosed sum of money around 3.30 pm today.
Police were able to locate gold Tiida vehicle with the suspects and gave chase.
The suspects crashed the vehicle in their bid to escape and were arrested by the police.
Police say the two officers who were shot in the Beetham, had gone to search for suspects in the larceny American Stores in St James.
Both officers have been warded in stable condition at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.

Less than 24-hours after police launched a land, sea and air manhunt for the killers of 14-year-old Darian Nedd, two more suspects have been arrested.
Police confirm that the brothers, a 19-year-old and a 22-year-old were picked up on Sunday night.
The suspects of South Oropouche were kept in separate locations on Monday as homicide officers quizzed them for hours in connection with the crime.
