Tobago taxi driver stabbed to death

A man has been stabbed to death in Tobago.

Police sources state that around 10pm on Sunday, the body of 60-year-old Gilbert Thomas was discovered at Mt Hay Road, Black Rock.

It is believed that Gilbert, a former WASA police officer and taxi driver may have been robbed and killed.

Police have told CNC3 that the killing of Gilbert has brought the murder toll to four on the island for the year so far.


Murdered Tobago woman was 'protected' by restraining order

A male relative has been held in connection with the stabbing death of a 29-year-old Tobago midwife.

Reports indicate that at 3 am this morning Crystal Tobias was asleep at her mother's home in Plymouth, Tobago when the male relative broke into the home and stabbed her several time about the body.

Tobais had a restraining order issued against the suspect after she received a series of death threats.

She was staying with mother and told relatives she feared for her life.

Earlier this year, Tobais was struck by a vehicle while attempting to get out of her home.

$1 million drug bust on fishing boat in Tobago

Coast Guard officers have seized over $1 million on drugs after intercepting a fishing boat in Tobago Thursday morning.

The bust was made during a routine patrol just before 6 am Thursday after officers boarded the boat.

Reports indicate that the boat had left Toco with two occupants on board.

Officers found 20 kilos of drugs which included 14 packets of cocaine and 11 packets of marijuana.

The men were taken into custody and handed over to the Organised Crime, Firearms and Narcotics Unit.

Watson Duke's PDP seeks to make Tobago a "first-world nation" by 2030

Political leader of the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Watson Duke says the party intends to make Tobago a "first-world nation" by 2030.

The PDP has already selected six candidates for the Tobago House of Assembly elections, which is expected to be in January 2017. 

He says there appears to be a number of people already coming to Tobago with the intent of voting in the upcoming elections.


6-month-old child discovered dead at home in Tobago

A six-month-old child has been discovered dead at a house in Zion Hill Tobago and police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine how the child died.

Roxborough police officers received a call around 6 am Tuesday, that the child, Jannae Gooding was discovered unresponsive in her crib at the family's Zion Hill home.

The district medical officer was called and pronounced the child dead.

Family members told the police that the child was last seen alive at 2 am but that when they awoke at 5.30 this morning, the child was unresponsive.

Caught on Camera: Man thrown from car but survives Tobago accident

A Tobago man was lucky to survive with his life after being thrown out of the car in which he was traveling as it flipped several times when it collided with another vehicle.

The accident occurred along Milford Road in Canaan on Thursday.


Footage captured from a security camera shows the car trying to overtake another vehicle before the two cars collide.

One of the vehicles flipped several times, during which one of the occupants was thrown out of the vehicle in mid-air.

One dead after PTSC bus plunges over precipice in Tobago

One person is dead and eight others injured after a PTSC bus plunged over a precipice in L'anse Fourmi, Tobago.

CNC3 News understands that the accident took place around 6:15 this morning.

The victim who has not been identified is said to be 50 years old.

Fire officers and residents rushed to the scene and attempted to rescue trapped passengers.
