Going Maracas on the holiday Monday? Guess what? There's room now for parking

The chaos you've been experiencing trying to find a place to park at Maracas Beach recently might soon be over.

The Ministry of Tourism says it is constructing temporary parking facilities near the fishing complex.

It issued the following statement today:

"As a result of the on-going upgrade works at Maracas Beach, the main car parking facility is no longer available to the public.

Tourism may be receiving an unexpected but welcomed endorsement from US WWE superstar Nikki Bella.

The professional wrestler visited our shores last week for the Republic Bank Decibel Expo and she made the most of her visit.

Bella posted a series of videos and pictures on her social media as she toured the island.

Tourism Minister explores Tobago plans with British Airways Holidays

Tourism Minister Shamfa Cudjoe has met with executives of British Airways Holidays to explore opportunities for promoting Tobago as a premier travel destination for international travellers.

British Airways Holidays provides an entire combined holiday package to the island from booking the British Airways flight to hotel accommodation and transportation at affordable prices to travellers.

Representatives Rikki Partridge, Destination Executive and David Weatherson, Destination Manager discussed ways in which travel to Tobago can be further improved.

Tobago's tourism officials prepare for annual goat races

The Division of Tourism, Culture and Transportation in Tobago says it is gearing up for the annual tradition of goat racing over the Easter holidays.

The indigenous sport has been in existence for over 90 years and on Easter Monday and Tuesday, goats and their jockeys will compete for a year’s worth of bragging rights.

On Monday, April 17th, the Carnbee/Mt. Pleasant Community Council will welcome residents and visitors to its 45th Annual Sports Festival at the Mt. Pleasant Recreational Grounds from 2pm.

Chamber wants speedy establishment of new tourism entities

The Chamber of Industry and Commerce is calling for the speedy establishment of the new tourism entities following the decision to dissolve the Tourism Development Company (TDC).

The Chamber issued the following statement today.

"The Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce and more specifically, its Tobago Division, has noted recent statements by the Honourable Minister of Tourism regarding Government’s plans to dissolve the Tourism Development Company (TDC).

Tobago named among islands making up world's fastest growing tourism market

Trinidad and Tobago (and in particular, Tobago) has been named among the countries that make up the fastest growing tourism market in the world, according to the World Tourism Organisation.

The 2015 results were published in the following a report carried by CNN on Tuesday, which used Pirate's Bay in Tobago as the leading photograph.

UK's 'Evening Standard' publishes glowing article on Tobago

At a time when the economy of Tobago could do with a boost, just like it's bigger sibling Trinidad, a UK newspaper has published a glowing article about the island.

Patrick Barclay who visited Tobago for the British Airways Legends football tournament, looks at the island as an eco-tourism destination, putting a lot of focus on the Main Ridge rainforest - the world’s oldest legally protected forest reserve. 

"Most people go to Tobago expecting sun, sea and sand," the article began.
