Vasant to Kamla: "Let's debate"

UNC leadership candidate, Vasant Bharath has invited Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar to debate.

Bharath is challenging Persad-Bissessar for the position of leadership of the party in the November 26th party elections.

He sent this letter to Persad-Bissessar:

"Dear Mrs. Bissessar,

On May 24th, 2010, the People’s Partnership won an overwhelming mandate from the people of Trinidad and Tobago to form the Government.

Newallo-Hosein to challenge Kamla Persad-Bissessar for political leader post in UNC election

Opposition Member of Parliament for Cumoto/Manzanilla, Christine Newallo-Hosein has filed nomination papers to run for the position of political leader of the UNC.

It puts her in a three-way race that will involve the incumbent Kamla Persad-Bissessar and former MP and Government Minister, Vasant Bharath.

Newallo-Hosein confirmed that she had filed nomination papers in a brief telephone conversation with CNC3.

Christine Newallo-Hosein was elected to represent the constituents of Cumuto/Manzanilla on Monday September 7, 2015 as a member of the 11th Parliament.

Bharath writes UNC again for information pertaining to party election

UNC member Vasant Bharath has again written to the party's General Secretary Davendranath Tancoo, asking once again clarification on how the party identifies members and to be able to make contact with them.

Bharath said he received no response to his last request and added that his request was in the interest of a fair and transparent election.

The following is Bharath's latest letter to Tancoo.

"Reference is made to the matter at caption and to my letter to you dated November 1st, 2017 to which I have not had an acknowledgment of receipt nor a response to date.

UNC chairman calls Vasant Bharath's comments absurd

UNC chairman David Lee is calling statements made by Vasant Bharath absurd.

During an interview, Mr. Bharath said the UNC could not win a General Elections if it was called now.
