Ban on Venezuelan crab meat

The agriculture minister has instructed the fisheries division to discontinue the issuing of permits for the importation of processed crab meat and live crabs from Venezuela.

The US food and drug administration has found a bacteria in fresh crab meat from Venezuela that can cause cholera. 

Speaking with CNC3 news minister Clarence Rambharat said that the crab meat referred to by the US is processed and packaged crab meat. He says the ministry of trade has stopped issuing licenses for the import of that product from Venezuela. 

Trump pressed aides about invading Venezuela last year

US President Donald Trump pressed his top military aides about whether he could invade Venezuela during an Oval Office discussion last year.

His inquiry came during a discussion about imposing sanctions on the South American country as it was roiled by political and economic crises, according to a report on Wednesday.

Venezuelans among four arrested with revolver

Two Venezuelans and two San Fernando men are arrested and a revolver seized, by officers of the Cedros Police Station, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the district over the weekend.

Officers were on mobile patrol along Southern Main Road, Cedros, around 1:30 pm, on Saturday 23rd June, 2018, when they had cause to stop and search a silver Nissan AD Wagon, with four male occupants, in the vicinity of Bowen Trace.

The search resulted in a brown and black Amadeo revolver being discovered behind the rear passenger seat.

International: Maduro wins presidential elections for second 6-year term

President Nicolas Maduro won the Venezuelan presidential elections Sunday, gaining a second presidential term for six years with more than 5.8 million votes, the National Electoral Council (CNE) announced Sunday night.

With 92.6 percent of the votes counted, Maduro had 5.8 million votes, while his closest rival, former governor Henri Falcón getting 1.8 million votes, said CNE President Tibisay Lucena who added that in total, 8.6 million Venezuelans voted, out of an electoral registry of 20.5 million people.
