Man killed by fake police

A 30-year-old Cipero Road man was killed by two men who were pretending to be police officers.

CNC3 NEWS understands that at around 10 30 last evening, Joseph Persad (of Woodland Avenue, Cipero Road) was at home when he heard a knock on his front door, followed by someone shouting “Police! Police!”

According to reports, this made Persad suspicious and he attempted to escape by jumping through a window. However, while doing so he heard a loud explosion. When he fell to the ground, the two men dealt him several blows and ran off.

Labourers in court for murder

Three labourers, who have been charged with murder, will have their matter heard again on Monday 30th December 2019.

The men—who are from Freeport—were remanded into custody after appearing before a Chaguanas magistrate on Monday, charged with the murder of 41-year-old Bissram Ramkissoon, of Ramlogan Street, Uquire Road, Freeport.

$200,000 bail for cops charged with misbehaviour in office

Two po­lice of­fi­cers were grant­ed bail of $200,000 on charges of mis­be­hav­iour in pub­lic of­fice and at­tempt­ing to per­vert the course of pub­lic jus­tice.

On Ju­ly 29, two po­lice of­fi­cers went to Ravine Road in Pe­tit Val­ley where they al­leged­ly ap­proached the vic­tim to take pos­ses­sion of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle as a re­sult of a dis­pute of own­er­ship of the said mo­tor ve­hi­cle.

Two police constables appear in court today

Two brothers, both of whom are police constables, will appear before a Port of Spain magistrate today, on charges of misbehaviour in public office.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in March last year, during which a 30-year-old watchman was confronted by the two officers, who reportedly assaulted and abused him.

The victim informed the officers he was going to report them for their actions and proceeded to the Central Police Station.

It was reported that he was followed by the officers who arrested him for using obscene language and resisting arrest.

Abuse victim fears for her life

A 33-year-old woman from South Trinidad fears for her life and her four children, three of whom are living with her.

Her fears became more of a reality yesterday on the heels of Monday’s incident where Kemba Olufemi’s ex-lover Lloyd Logan, 60, tried to shoot her and then used the gun to beat her mercilessly on her head.

After the attack, Logan drank poison in the car park of Tropical Plaza, Pointe-a-Pierre, and later died at hospital.

Victim calls police during robbery; four men held

Quick work by police officers resulted in the arrest of four men, who had just carried out an armed robbery on an elderly couple in Barataria, yesterday.

The victims, aged 67 and 77, were at their Fourth Street home, around 11:30 am, when three men, one armed with a knife, entered the premises and announced a holdup.

The men proceeded to rob a couple of cash and jewellery, valued just over $13,000.

While the suspects escaping, one of the victims managed to call 999, initiating an immediate response from police officers.

KFC victim was hunted

After fleeing gunmen from his Maloney Gardens home town, Akino Suya was still tracked down by them, followed to the St Helena branch of KFC and shot dead by two men.

According to reports, the shooting took place around 10.30 pm while the fast food outlet at St Helena Junction was filled with customers. Eyewitnesses told police two men entered the restaurant and walked towards Suya, who was standing in the line waiting to place his order. One of the men drew a gun and fired at him. Suya was shot five times.
