Police destroy $1.2 million in weed

Fully grown marijuana trees worth approximately $1.2 million dollars were destroyed by officers of the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit, during a marijuana eradication exercise conducted in the Mayaro district yesterday.

Officers conducted the exercise on Thursday 10th January, 2019, during which they proceeded to Gregorio Trace, Cedar Grove, Mayaro, where they discovered a marijuana field with approximately 1,200 fully grown marijuana trees and approximately 500 seedlings.

The trees and seedlings were subsequently destroyed.

Investigations are ongoing.

Gun and weed found hidden in Chaguanas Mall

One revolver and quantities of ammunition and marijuana were discovered by officers of the Central Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Chaguanas district last night.

The exercise, supervised by Snr. Supt. Samuel Seepersad and ASP Richard Smith, was conducted on Tuesday, during which officers based on intelligence gathered proceeded to Vendors’ Mall, Chaguanas Main Road, Chaguanas.

Police destroy over $2 million in weed

Police have destroyed marijuana trees and cured marijuana with an estimated street value of $2.1 million.

The weed was destroyed in an exercise by officers of the Southern Division Task Force and Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit conducted in the Moruga district yesterday.

Officers went to a forested area at Marac Village, Moruga where they discovered five marijuana fields with 1,900 fully grown marijuana trees and a camp with 50 pounds of cured marijuana.

The drug has a total street value of $2,126,000.

Investigations are ongoing.

Canada has become the second country after Uruguay to legalise possession and use of recreational cannabis.
The first blunt to be legally bought was purchased at midnight on Wednesday 
Politicians from multiple countries congratulated Canada saying, “Canada shows the way and others should follow suit”.
Canada’s government announced that it would introduce legislation to make it easier for Canadians who had been convicted of possessing small amounts of marijuana to obtain a pardon.
Medical marijuana has been legal in the country since 2001.

Scarborough mechanic arrested on port with weed

A Scarborough mechanic was arrested and a quantity of marijuana seized, by officers of the Tobago Divisional Task Force during an anti-crime exercise, conducted at the Scarborough Port, over the weekend.

Officers conducted the exercise around 7:30 pm, on Sunday 14th October, 2018, during which they observed a white Nissan AD Wagon with a lone male driver disembark the T&T Spirit fast ferry, and attempt to exit the Port compound hastily.

Port-of-Spain man charged with marijuana possession

A Port of Spain man has been arrested and a quantity of marijuana seized by officers of the Debe Traffic and Highway Patrol Unit, during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in the Gasparillo district. 

Officers conducted the exercise along the northbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, in the vicinity of the Gasparillo overpass, around 9:50am on Sunday, during which they had cause to stop and search a gold coloured Mazda 6 motor vehicle with a lone male occupant.

The search resulted in one kilogramme of marijuana being discovered hidden in the vehicle.

Police destroy $600,000 in marijuana

Some $600,000 worth in marijuana trees discovered in a camp in the Las Lomas district, were destroyed by officers of the Central Division Task Force, during a marijuana eradication exercise.

The exercise, coordinated by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Inraj Balram, took place around 11:30am, on Sunday 9th September, 2018.

During the exercise, officers proceeded to a forested area off Salvory Road, Las Lomas No. 1, where they discovered one marijuana field containing 1,000 fully grown marijuana trees, two hundred seedlings and a camp, which were subsequently destroyed.
