Man held with $50,000 in weed

A 29-year-old man has been arrested for possession of close to $50,000 in marijuana.

It occurred during a series of police operations yesterday, outlined in the following police report:

Special Branch officers stop man from entering PM's residence with weed

A 30-year-old power mower operator has pleaded guilty to charges of possession of marijuana and possession of an apparatus when he appeared before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate today.

Jonathan Sammy, was held by officers attached the Police Special Branch, as he was about to enter the premises of the Prime Minister's residence with the drug.

Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar postponed the matter to Tuesday 14th June, 2016, at which time the accused will be sentenced.

Coast Guard nets $1.5 million in marijuana

The Coast Guard has netted $1.5 million in drugs, in a bust that took place on Sunday.

The following is a statement from the Coast Guard.

"On Sunday 10th April 2016 whilst on routine patrol along the south coast TTS Speyside – CG 25 intercepted a pirogue with crocus bags and five (5) men onboard.
