Police call for family of missing woman as body found in Fyzabad

Police have confirmed that the body found in Fyzabad was that of missing 26-year-old Nadia Simms.

Police are investigating the discovery of the body of a woman in Fyzabad and have called the family of missing 26-year-old Nadia Simms to help their investigations.

The body was discovered on an oilfield road linking Fyzabad to Sana Flora.

Woman charged with murder of common-law husband

A woman appeared in court yesterday charged with the murder of her common-law husband, who was stabbed to death, earlier this month at his Valencia home.

Loretta Charles, 49, of Pine Drive Extension, Valencia was remanded in custody to reappear in court on 15 February by a Sangre Grande Magistrate yesterday.

Charles, a security officer employed with MTS appeared before senior magistrate Avason Quinlan in the Sangre Grande Second Magistrate Court charged with the murder of 38-year-old Learie Wendell Timothy.

26-year-old woman shot dead as gunmen open fire at couple

A romantic drive with his common-law-wife of over nine years ended tragically for Mahase Latchman, 28, as gunmen opened fire on his vehicle, shooting his wife and wounding him during the wee hours of yesterday morning.

Latchman, in a bid to escape from the gunfire, sped off.

Realising that his spouse and mother of two, Dhanmatie “Amanda” Bachan, 26, was bleeding heavily, Latchman drove straight to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mount Hope for medical help.

However, Bachan later died.

Autopsy confirms woman found on Wrightson Road was murdered

An autopsy on the body of a woman discovered on Wrightson Road yesterday revealed that she has been murdered.

Initial reports suggested that it was a hit-and-run accident.

The woman has been identified as Natalie Smart, 27, of Morvant, and autopsy results said she died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.

Police are treating the matter as a homicide.

Woman chopped to death

Mystery surrounds the murder of Guapo mother Amanda Mayers, who died at the Point Fortin Area Hospital after being chopped in the head on Sunday.

Her mother, Mellina Mayers, told the T&T Guardian yesterday that her daughter got along well with everyone and had never complained about threats and problems. So when Mellina rushed to the hospital, only to find her daughter dead, it left many unanswered questions for her family.

Woman's semi-nude body found in Malabar house

Police are investigating the discovery of a woman’s semi-nude body at her home in Malabar yesterday afternoon. 

Police said relatives of Judy Coutain, 49, went to check on her around 5 pm yesterday, only to find her body on her bed with what appeared to be marks of violence on her neck and face.

Police said a vehicle belonging to Coutain, who was last seen on Sunday night, was missing and while they have not ruled out foul play they will await autopsy results before making any pronouncement on the cause of her death. 

Update: Body of woman removed from scene; no identification as yet

Police have removed the body of a woman found in Bunsee Trace near Morne Diablo, Penal today.

Residents of the area have said that farmers heard a scream last week but that when police went to investigate, they found nothing.

Among those visiting the scene today was a relative of Ria Sookdeo who was abducted three weeks ago while dropping her children off to school.

She remains missing. There is as yet no identification of the body found today.

Information leads police to body of a woman three miles into Morne Diablo forest

Police and other first responders are currently on the scene where the body of a woman was found in the Morne Diablo forest this morning.

The discovery came after officers attached to the Souther Division and other investigative divisions of the Police Service, acted upon information around 7am Thursday.

The information led them some three miles into the forest where the partially decomposed body was discovered.

There is no confirmation at this time of the partially decomposed identity of the body.

We will update this report when more comes to hand.

Police investigate body of woman found off M2 Ring Road

Police are investigating the murder of a woman whose body was found dumped along the M2 Ring Road.

Police say they received call around 10 this morning about the discovery which was made along a gravel road off the M2 Ring Road, Debe.

Police say there was blood around the head and upper body, and that the woman is of East Indian descent, in her 40s. 

The woman was clad in a blue top and black pair of trousers.

Officers suspect that the woman was killed hours earlier at another location and her body dumped off the Ring Road.
